September always proves to be a month full of change; change in the weather, change in the season, change in the time of sunrise and sunset. The change this month, for me, will be the loss of my sister Marilyn. All my life, Marilyn was many things to me; she was a sister, a mother, a tutor, a guardian, but most of all, she was my friend. She fought a brave battle against cancer, but the battle was lost last Friday, September 9th. Marilyn was very blessed with six wonderful children who were by her side until the very end. You will be missed Marilyn, but never forgotten and loved always. The weather continues to be glorious but the Farmers Almanac, which has been very accurate up until now, is suggesting we batten down the hatches and prepare ourselves for a blistery winter. October is significant in the fact that Toad Hollow once again goes into hibernation and all my friends with their very precious vehicles start their winter storage. It was a great summer for Toad Hollow. New Friends made and lots of times to sit and have a beverage with old friends. I attended a very special celebration last Saturday evening. It was the 40th un-anniversary of my good friends Michael and Louise. Michael and Louise had met as teenagers and formed a singing group in the fashion of Peter Paul and Mary. Louise and Michael decided at that very early age to continue along their own paths but remained friends throughout the years. In taking out the violins and upon further examination, I was able to identify the manufacturer’s label on the inside of the instrument. One having been manufactured by Steinmann and the other, by August Kniezel, Vienna 1918.The first instrument was fairly complete and intact and looks like it had been played up to the end. It was manufactured around the turn of the century. The second instrument obviously hadn’t been played for quite a while and needed restringing and some other cosmetic repairs. The overall condition of the instrument was exceptionally good. The fact that they both were contained within their original cases was very much a bonus. While researching violins, I discovered that some of the earliest examples date back to the 16th century. The instrument in its most basic form was probably from the

While my two examples are nowhere near anything in value like that, their true value lies in the fact that they were once played by Nan. The wonderful fact is that they still exist and will be treasured by Roxy, Brendan and myself always. Recently at auctions the going price seems to be $125 to $350 depending of course, on condition and if in fact the violins were contained in their original cases. I have always loved musical instruments and do have a small collection of drums, trumpets, clarinets, etc... Although I do not have one musical bone in my body, I love the fact that they’re part of the Man Cave and particularly enjoy when one of my friends can pick one up and create Magic with it. equestrian cultures of Central Asia, one of the earlier examples being the Tanbur. These very early instruments typically

used horse hair for Strings and Bow. The earliest pictures appear in paintings from around the 1530s, and depict the violin as

we know it today. Most prized examples are from the families of Stradivari, Luminary and Amuti families from the 16th to the 18th century Europe. The most expensive example was sold in 2011 at auction. It was a Straivarius, named the Lady Blunt and sold at that time for 15.9 million dollars.

CREA Reports: Bank of Canada Keeps Interest Rates on Hold!

On September 7th, 2016, CREA, the Canadian Real Estate Association reported that the Bank of Canada plans to keep its interest rates on hold. The Bank remains concerned about rising mortgage debt, and although inflation was lower this past summer, there are concerns about lowering interest rates further, for fear of fueling further household debt.

CREA reports that, “The big picture for the Bank’s key policy interest rate remains unchanged: it will stay low for longer – likely remaining where it is when the first day of school rolls around next year and maybe beyond.” The next decision on interest rates will be October 19th, 2016.

So what does all this mean for you? It means there are investment opportunities in both the retail and commercial area to be realised. Now is a great time to consider my FIVE YEAR PLAN by adding either a residential or commercial real estate rental property to your existing investment portfolio.

Thus, was last Saturday, the celebration; a celebration of Love rekindled a celebration of a new life together. Much fun was had and much music played, those wonderful songs from the sixties and seventies once again at the Forefront.

Meanwhile on the topic of music, September 10th was a very special day for my good friend Angela van Breemen, since it marked her first full concert. She was accompanied by her mentor, instructor and good friend

Mark DuBois, world renowned lyric tenor.

Mark delighted the audience with his wonderful renditions of Some

and will it burst? I do not consider this to be a bubble and as a matter of fact, I was heavily involved in the last bubble which occurred in 1988 and 1989. The cause of the bubble and its bursting was the mere fact that the whole bubble was caused by speculation. People were witnessing the rapid rise in prices and the feeling was they could buy a house and flip it after 60 to 90 days after the closing for a very tidy profit.

This of course is not the case today, and the increase in prices is simply because of a lack of inventory. New buyers are coming into the marketplace at a very rapid pace and I do not see this changing in the near future.

What could change is an increase in mortgage rates. This would have a ripple effect and cause new home purchases to back off because of the affordability issue. Is this still a good time to buy a home? Yes it is! And my Five Year Real Estate Investment Plan has never been more relevant.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime to discuss any of your real estate needs and to possibly have The Five Year Plan explained in more detail.

I wish you, all my friends, The Best of The Fall Season and I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you again very shortly. Take care; it’s a wild world out there!

Enchanted Evening and To Dream the Impossible Dream. Angela and Mark also performed several duets, and the group was charmed with Love Unspoken from The Merry Widow.

The event took place upstairs in the Mill Creek Pub. The entire event was a fund-raiser for Family Transition Place here in Orangeville. Over $1,000 was raised for this very wonderful cause. The funds collected will be donated along with the other Headwaters British Car Club efforts that are going toward this cause.

The concert was absolutely gorgeous, the music spectacular, and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. There were nothing but rave reviews for Angela and Mark. I look forward to more concerts in the future and I know Angela looks forward to sharing her passion of singing with friends and strangers alike.

In the next few weeks I will be traveling to Costa Rica. It has been way too long and this precious time together with Roxy and Brendan will mean so much to all of us. This of course will just lay the groundwork for my real holiday in December.

Real estate continues to run its very erratic course. This past year has seen a 13% increase in the average price of a house in Orangeville. Listings continue to be as rare as hen’s teeth and everything coming onto the market place is immediately gobbled up. People ask me, “Is this a bubble

4th Annual Pig Roast and Customer Appreciation Day!Thanks for Attending this past August 21st!

Last month, on August 21st, we celebrated my 4th Annual Pig Roast and Customer Appreciation Day. I am so blessed, that so many of my clients and associates are also my friends. Together, we celebrated an amazing day filled with dance, music and song.

My special thanks go out to the Leahy family for their wonderful entertainment. This family are not just remarkable dancers, but amazing musicians and we were treated to a wonderful performance of step

dancing and music, unique to Canada!

It was wonderful to see the enjoyment on everyone’s faces as they savoured some pre-dinner Crackle as an appetizer, while the Pig was being carved. Thank you Peter the Chef, for another amazing roasted pig!

The music continued with tunes by good friend and musician, Kevin who is an excellent Elvis impersonator. Also singing a few Irish and Scottish songs was my friend, Angela.

I would like to also thank my friend Don Bauman for taking such great photos of the festivities.

And finally, thank you for your support in business and friendship over this past year!

Mark August 20th, 2017 on your calendar for next year’s event of the summer, which will be the 5th Annual Pig Roast and Customer Appreciation Day.

Wee Davey
