Indian National Congress, 1931 (Karachi Session) In 1931, the Congressmet at Karachi and approved the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. The most significantcontribution of the Karachi session was a resolution it passed on FundamentalRights and Economic Policy. It was later known as Karachi Resolution. TheKarachi session was presided by then INC President Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Session was conducted in the shadow of three major events. First, MahatmaGandhi had just been released from prison following his Salt Satyagraha.Second, the Gandhi-Irwin pact had just been concluded which had brought thecivil disobedience movement to an end and third, the British government had, aweek before the session, executed Bhagat Singh and two of his associates inconnection with the Kakori Conspiracy case. The DAV Sreshtha VirtualConference would encourage the delegates to go through the books of historyand look into this significant matter of interest of our constitution makers.
