D ear brothers and sisters in Christ, As our brother Dr. Bill Wade has written in his weekly Reflections, “This Sunday is the beginning of the Liturgical Year. It follows the significant events of the Lord Jesus’ life based on the great feasts of Israel. The purpose is that the Mystery of Christ may work its way through our senses by the Liturgy and the Word to penetrate the intuitive level of our being to release the immense energies of the Spirit to transform our consciousness into the mind of Christ. The Liturgical Year focuses on the three great theological ideas that form the heart of the Christian Revelation: Light, Life, and Love. Advent, the Coming of Christ, begins in the darkness and death of winter as the days grow shorter and the sun seems on the verge of disappear- ing. It is a season of spiritual preparation to receive the Christ. “In Him was life and the life was the light of humanity. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it” (Jn 1.4,5).” Our Christmas Eve services will be on Thursday, December 24th, are as follows: 5:00 p.m. – Family Service with Pageant and music with the Praise Band 7:30 and 10 p.m. – Traditional Christmas Eve Holy Communion with Organ, Choir and El Paso Brass Please note that we do NOT have a Christmas Day service. The church office will be closed the week of December 25th through January 1st. Please call one of the clergy directly in case of emer- gency. There will not be a Saturday service on the 26th. CHILDREN’S CORNER Rachel Degenhart, Children’s Ministry Director

The cry of the human heart is, how much do you love me? Can I trust you? Will you be there for me? Shall I be vulner-able to you? In fact, in the 1970’s the BeeGee’s sang, “How deep is your love, how deep is your love, I really mean to know?” I would suggest to you that the answer to the cry of our heart is found in the Christmas story. You see, we are not the only ones with a cry of our heart. I would suggest to you that our heart’s cry is what it is because we were made in the image of God and that He, before us, has had the same cry. His cry has been and still is, for connection and relation-ship with man. His is the cry of every parent with a wayward child to do anything and everything in their power to bring healing, forgiveness and understanding to not only the child but to the relationship. It is from this place that we read John 3:16, “For God SO loved the world that he gave his only Son….”, and also 2 Cor 5:19, “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.” The fact is that the plan for salvation was in place before man even fell prey to the scheme of the devil in the Garden of Eden. 1 Peter 1:20 and Revelation 3:18 God reveals that before the foundation of the earth took place, God’s love had already made a plan for our redemption. What did this plan look like? Galations 4:4 tells us that from creation God was waiting patiently for the right time to unveil his plan. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” We know this as Christmas! This is the time that Jesus stood up from his throne above all thrones, took off his royal robes (to the confusion of the angels and heavenly beings)

and walked out of heaven and down the ladder to earth to take on the form of a baby, a child, a servant, a convict, a dead man and a resurrected man all to secure the freedom of his beloved children, mankind. He has shown us how deep his love is (and he has an ongoing desire to unveil this to you on a personal level.) This season we have an opportunity to renew our declaration of love to him. My question to you is, how deep is your love? If you find, as you honestly evaluate your heart, that your love for him is not deep, then I lovingly invite you to a journey of exploration into the truths of who he is and how he loves you; in reality, we are only able to love him to the degree of our experiential knowledge of his love for us. (I John 4:19, “We love him because he first loved us.”) Then you can join the angels in singing, “Joy to the world, the Lord IS come.”

This November the Youth Ministry went on their Annual Youth Retreat in Cloud-croft, NM. A total of 16 teenagers gath-ered in the mountains of the Aspendale Retreat Center for paintballing, archery, and a campfire. The theme of the event was “Every Story Matters” in which every leader shared their story and the way that God impacted their lives. God used this

time to encounter every kid during ministry time and small groups. As leaders, we have faith that the Lord has begun a good work in the life of every kid and we are excited to see Him do more in them. This Thanksgiving we also got together to hand out dough-nuts and hot chocolate during the El Paso Thanksgiving Parade. We had tons of fun since everyone had the opportunity to serve and pray for people at the parade. Additionally, College Church and the Youth Group will be joining to attend the One Thing Conference hosted by the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri. We will be leaving on December 27th at 6am and coming back on January 1st. If you are in high school (10th grade and up) or in college you can join us by talk-ing to our youth ministry’s head intern Kristie Shinn (443) 235-1861.

Ciudad Nueva Christmas Store

Many have asked why Ciudad Nueva chooses to have a Christmas store instead of giving gifts. We believe that when you donate to our Christmas store, you give both a physical gift and the gift of dignity. This year we are again providing a store for our families to shop for Christmas gifts on December 16th and 17th. All the gifts will be priced 50-80% off retail. We are asking people to donate unwrapped gifts to the store by December 14, 2015.

Thank you for supporting this wonderful opportunity for our Ciudad Nueva families.

Gifts maybe dropped off at: 528 Yandell St. Clement’s Welcome Center Mustard Seed Cafe
