Dear President, Heartiest Congratulations on

Pandemic has severely impacted our lives, but

we have always risen to the occasion, adapted

to the situation and given our best so we

could “Serve to Change Lives” following the principle of “Service

Above Self”. We as a team would definitely do wonders in our

Message: District Governor

My dear Past Presidents, IPP Rtn. Sushil, Rtn. Ulhas,

Rotarians, Anns, Annettes and Rotractors, Interactors

and Non Rotarian friends, it is proud privilege for me to

lead one of the vibrant club in district 3131. Me and my

husband Dr. Philemon, we are in Rotary because we

have a common goal of our lives, that is – serving God

by serving people and give the hope to hopeless and

bring smile on their faces. Rotary is the platform through

which we can extend our services at larger scale.

Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore said something about the service:

I was sleeping and dreamt

That life was pure joy.

I awakened to see

That life was mere service:

Then I served and I saw

That serving was joy.

It is so true with Rotary. The theme of this year is “Serve to Change Lives”

Rotary is the organization that has had a profound impact on our world

through effective and sustainable service.

Mahatma Gandhi once said ‘There is enough in the world for everyone’s

need but there is not enough for one man’s greed; Only if everyone share

and cares” Through Rotary Rotarians reach out with helping hands to share

our love and compassion. The new Rotary years bring new opportunities and

new responsibilities. The world today has become upside down due to the

pandemic of covid 19. The needs have increased. Many Families have lost

their loved once. I heard that 10,000 children have become orphans in

Maharashtra itself. The great gift in the world is love and actions prove your

love. They need lending and helping hands. It is indeed like steep mountain

climbing but climbing must be begun.

I have neighbors who are living in slums. Many of them are facing many

problems like poverty, illiteracy, pollution; young children are wasting their

lives in substance abuse, due to which they are ill physically, mentally,

socially and spiritually. The small businesses are closed because of

pandemic. Bible Says, “Love your Neighbors”

We are planning to make integrated development in this area. The name of

this part of Daund is Hanumannagar. We are focusing on empowerment of

women through basic and advance digital literacy and finding job

opportunities for them. A group of 40 women will become literate through

online teaching. The no. of toilets are very less as compared to the

populations. We will have to plan to build at least 80 toilets for them.

Planning to have interact clubs in the community to develop the future

generation. A well woman Rotary Clinic will take care of their health. There

will be drive of HB testing and Anamia correction in periphery of Daund.

Diabetes is the major problem in india hence we will work in that area also.

We are going to work for the unprivileged farmers. Our Non-Medical service

director who is a Gramsevak and another Rotarian is also Gramsevak, they

have great ideas to work in villages. We have already found a spot in village

called Girim where we are going to plant trees which will be the blessing for

future generation. Our club is in position to go for Global Grant Project as

per the need of the community.

Sky is the limit, never doubt yourself, stay focused, never let

anything slow or stop by from consuming your goal and making your dreams

happen! We all the cop mates are motivated by our DG Pankaj Shaha who

has been working Day and night to make this year fruitful and successful. It

is our privilege and honour to have our own Indian Rotary International

President Rtn. Shekhar Mehta who is our inspiration and district 3131 has

honoured him with a new name “The Dreamer, The Doer” and it is so true…

Today I am thanking my club for giving me this opportunity to serve and

praying for BOD and all the club members that Let our service through

Rotary be so inspiring that after the years people can see the footprints of

our work which has changed lives of people in the sands of time.

Each new year stands with

a chance for us to evolve

and be a better version of

ourselves and if we think,

2021 is not an exception.

The pandemic has surely

changed the way we did

some things but Rotary

and the principles it stands for, never deter.

Rotary moves to next year, new President, new

Secretary, new Board of Directors as always.

This year too my Club has shouldered me with an

opportunity to be the editor of our club bulletin

“DAUD”. I hope I'll be able to live upto it.

This year's Rotary International President Rtn.

Shekhar Mehta, a dynamic personality expresses his

word of guidance for our Rotary family through this

bulletin.

As our District Governor, we have got Rtn. Pankaj

Shah and he renounces our responsibilities through

his message.

At Club level specifically we have our Calm and Cool

President Rtn. Shalini Pawar sharing her ideas about

on how the upcoming year will be full of exciting and

impactful projects and a chance to 'serve more serve

well'.

Our Secretory, Rtn. Payal Bhandari expresses her

thoughts and ideas about next year. Her ' Can Do '

attitude inspires others to be optimistic and serve

humanity with pride

This bulletin features remarkable writeups by our

honorable members PP Rtn. Dr. Sanjay Ingale, PP Rtn.

Dr. Vinod Pokharna, Ann Dr. Kalpana Pokharna, Rtn.

Amir Shaikh and Rtn. Pradnya Rajopadhye making

this bulletin much more visionary. Especially, our

Respected Past President Rtn. Sushil Shaha writes

about his journey in Rotary.

With great enthusiasm and pride I present you the

Rotary Club of Daund's Monthly Bulletin- 'DAUD'.

Thanking you

Serve To Change Lives

-------------------------------

RI President elect Rtn

Shekhar Mehata revealed

the 2021-22 presidential

theme ‘SERVE TO CHANGE

LIVES ‘to incoming DGs on 1st

Feb During Rotary

International

Assembly held virtually due to covid.

He Has urged member to become more involved in-service

projects. Caring for & serving others is the best because it

changes not only others’ lives but also our own.

He said how participating in service projects through rotary

changed him as a person & made him work more with the

needs of others. Soon after joining his club (Calcutta –

mahanagar, west Bengal) he helped in carrying out projects

that benefitted rural community. It strengthened his

commitment to service. He truly understood the plight of

community. He had participated by providing artificial

limbs; clean water and better health service etc. Rotary

kindled the spark within him to look beyond himself and

embrace humanity.

Service has become a way of life for him & adopted the

guiding philosophy that service is the rent he pays for the

space he occupied on this earth and he wanted to be a good

tenant on earth. He encouraged DGs elect to lead by

example during their term & inspire Rotarians and

Retractors to participate in projects that have measurable

& sustainable effects. He also asked clubs to conduct a

Rotary day of service. At the end of the term DGs should

feel that because of their leadership, inspiration& service

done during the year the world has changed for the

betterment .To be able to do more through service Rotary

needs to increase membership. He has challenged the

DGEs to increase membership to 1.3 million by 1st July 22.

For this he asks for Each One Bring One initiative. Increasing

membership Polio-eradication, fighting can together is an

ambitious goal. He also said that we should emphasize on

empowerment of girls. He has also urged DGE’s to attend 7

presidential conference, in the world held on 7 areas of

thrust.

All these things are challenging but we have to accept and

accomplish. He also said we have to do more & grow more.

Dream big and say why not.

There are many projects which are waiting like TEACH

program, providing clean water & sanitization, eyesight to

blind & food to hungry. Think of others before we think for

ourselves. So the theme for Rotary year 21-22 is Serve To

Change Lives.

I know Mrs Shalini Pawar from 1983. As we were together working as teachers in Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission School, Kedgaon. After that she started teaching in in Sheth Jyoti Prasad Vidyalaya, Daund as Junior college teacher at the same time I also joined the same institution and we joined the same church. I know her students always admire her teaching and many of them are holding high post in society but they are always admire how she helped them to become good human beings. I know her husband who is known as an honest and humble person who has compassion for Poor and needy people and hence

working for last 39-40 years through The Mission Hospital called Ashwood Memorial Hospital which is a charitable hospital. Mrs. Pawar had a passion to serve Hiv/Aids people so she took voluntary retirement and started serving HIV AIDS people and setting their families. Today you will see many families are living happily with their children and grandchildren. Children could get education through the help she provided. She had served in different avenues of rotary. The couple had attended two Rotary International Conventions are in Sydney Australia and another in Atlanta USA. They have visited the clubs in USA like Sunnyvale Rotary Club and Sunrise Rotary Club and Armadale Club of Perth too.

On 8 march 2008 she was among the 10 women of Maharashtra who have been serving the community through their hard work and awarded by Sharda Pratishthan trust Baramati. she was honored by district 3131 in year 13-14 for her outstanding work for. The couple is also honored by the Daund Medical Association by offering Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar. Giant Club of the Daund, Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Fit and Health club and many NGOs have encouraged them by offering awards.

The couple is blessed with two children, the son Moses is working in APPLE company as one of the director in California USA, his wife Priti is a nurse and they have two children Ethan and Isabella. Miriam- the daughter is a nurse in Fiona Stanley Hospital Perth which Is a famous government hospital and her husband Binny is nurse too. They are blessed With a son named Athan. Through the money of Moses and Miriam and their families, many families are supported for the nutrition and education of their children.

I am very proud and delighted to know that Mrs Shalini Pawar will be 24th president of RC Daund. I am very much confident that under her leadership the Rotary Club will definitely do the best humanitarian services in Daund and other parts. I wish her a happy and successful year of rotary career. Mrs Sarla kalanke Ex Rotarian RC the Daund Ex Principal, Sheth Jyoti Prasad Vidyalaya Daund
