Inaugural Issue - 2019

¦æAiÀÄ NzÀÄUÀgÉ,

I am extremely pleased to note that the

IQAC of the college has taken the initiative

to bring out the Inaugural Issue of our

college IQAC newsletter titled Chiguru. It is

a right step in the right direction. In fact, it

was one of the future plans that we had

proposed during the NAAC Peer Team Visit

in September 2018. A newsletter serves

many purposes: first, it serves as a pictorial

documentation of the college activities, two,

it is an opportunity to look back on the

institutional progress, and three, it serves as

a literary ambassador of the college. I wish

to congratulate the Editorial Board of

Chiguru for this new initiative. A beginning

has been made; it needs to be continued in

the coming years. I am confident IQAC will

persist with this good initiative.

The Institution honoured Prof N R Acharya, Academician and Retired Principal of Bhandarkar's College on the occasion of Teacher's Day (5-9-2018).

Dr. Kishore Kumar C K became the first Physical Education Director to assume the Charge of Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. The college honoured him on 22/9/2018 on achieving this rare honour.

Sri Ananda Kunder was awarded the prestigious Rajyotsava Award by the Government of Karnataka. Being a well wisher and donor of the college, the college honoured Mr Anand Kunder on 27/12/2018

A group of fifteen students and a teacher presented talks in

All India Radio Mangalore during 2018-19. Seven of the talks

have been broadcast.

The College conducted a Training Programme on Writing for the Wikipedia. Eighteen students who attended the training are now active Wikipedians. Their articles are now available on Kannada Wikipedia.

An amount of Rupees Eleven Thousand One Hundred and Four was collected voluntarily by the students of the college and was handed over to Parameshwar Naik who is suffering from throat cancer.

Dr. Bhaskar Shetty S was the chief Guest of National Library Week - 2018 organized by City Central Library Udupi. He also won the won the First Place in District level Government Employees above 45 in Shuttle Badminton. He was also Resource Person in a State level seminar at GFGC Hiriadka.

Sojan K. G was Resource Person for Orientation to NAAC Peer Team Visit Preparations and Documentation to faculty members of Poorna Prajna College, Udupi.He has also been nominated to the Board of Studies (BOS) UG –English for 208-19.

Prof. Krishna Bhat participated as a Facilitator in a Workshop to Principals and NAAC Coordinators of Government Colleges held at Science College Bengaluru. He also conducted training on the topic Quality Enhancement Initiatives in Higher Education to Principal and staff of Sri Dhavala College, Moodbidri. He also delivered presentations on NAAC Accrediatation Process under the New System at GFGC Kavoor and GFGC Hebri. He was also nominated as trained facilitator by the Department of Collegiate Education on 6/10/2018.

Dr. Raviraj Shetty attended the BOS meeting of Kannada of Mangalore University FOR 2018-19. He also won the won the First Place in District level Government Employees above 45 in Shuttle Badminton.

Mrs. Sowmyalatha was Resource Person in NSS camp conducted by Government Polytechnic Udupi at Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Pareeka.

Dr. Gururaj Prabhu K participated in a 5 day course on “Disaster Management scheme at School and Workplace” organized by Administrative Training Institute, Mysore.

Sri. Prakash Kramadhari participated in the inauguration of Shrama Samarthya Scheme Training programme organized by Department of labour Udupi and Udupi Nirmithi Kendra.

Sri. Chidananda A Patil served as the team member in drafting syllabus of 'Direct Tax I, II, III and GST & Customs Duty' Subject for proposed Choice Based Credit System of Mangalore University B Com Curriculum.

Dr. Vani R. Ballal has been selected as a member of MAHE Ethics Committee. She was also Subject Expert in the panel for selection of Assistant Professor of Psychology at SDM College, Ujire.

She was also Member of the BOS for the year 2018-19.

Dr. Roshan Shetty was present as a subject expert of the selection panel for conducting the interview for the selection of a Physical Education Director held at Women's National Education Society, Kodialbail, Mangalore. He was the Chief Guest and Inaugurator for the annual sports day at St. Cecily's PU College, Udupi.

Mrs. Varija has been appointed as Nodal officer of Rovers and Rangers units of Mangalore University on 5/11/2018.

Dr. Ramdas Prabhu, successfully guided a Research Scholar (Major Raghava) for award of PhD from Hampi Kannada University, Hampi. He was also the Chief Guest at Laxmi Soma Bangera College, Kota Padukere on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanthi.

Smt Suchitra T has successfully completed the Basic Range Leader Training held at Doddaballapur

Kum Ramya was one of the Key Speakers at the Youth and Nation Building Conference held at Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangalore on the occasion of National Youth Day.

Sri. Keshava Murthy wrote an article about cancer therapy research published in “Taranga” magazine on 25/10/2018.

Sri. Manjappa conducted an interactive training session on “self discipline and time management” to employees of BCM department, Udupi.

The college has been recognized as NPTEL - Local chapter in 2019. there have been 193 registrations for various online Courses under Swayam Platform, both by faculty and teachers

Udupi District level Youth-Fest Maithri P.R won the Second Prize in Classical Dance, Vijetha Nayak, Third Prize in Instrumental Music and Swathi the Third Prize in English Extempore.

An article written by Kaveri I B Sc (PCM) was published by Vijayavani, a Kannada Daily

Modala Hejje, a book on profiles of women writers of Udupi District was released by the Department of Kannada.

Students bagged three prizes in Mangalore university inter collegiate Weightlifting competition held at St.Mary's College, Shirva - Shavina of I BA, third place, 87kg category Ishwarya of I BA, fourth place, 55kg category and Mishma, fourth place, 81kg category.

Aishwarya S.V of II MSc Mathematics secured second place and won the cash prize of Rs.6000 in the multiple choice test conducted during KSTA sponsored two day lecture ser ies workshop on “Recent trends in Mathematics-2018” organized by depar tment of Mathematics, Mangalore University .
