DATO’ RANJIT SINGH GILL

GENERAL

I am an experienced senior executive who has retired from the Malaysian Armed Forces on 01 November 2003 after having served the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) for about 36 years. By profession I am a Helicopter and Fixed Wing Pilot and an ‘A’ Category Flying Instructor having clocked over 3500 flying hours on various types of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in the RMAF. I also hold a Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation issued Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence on Helicopters - ATPL (H) since April 1991.

I have extensive flying experience in military operations which consisted of troop

deployment, troop resupply, evacuation of injured military personnel from forward locations, medical evacuation of military personnel and civilians, search and rescue operations and the carriage of VVIPs/VIPs.

As a Flying Instructor, I have trained numerous military pilots from all 3 services who are today holding high posts in military and private flying institutions. I also had the opportunity to be the Commandant (Principal) of the RMAF’s Helicopter Flying Training Base in Kluang, Johor and the Commanding Officer of RMAF Base Subang, Selangor during my service career.

During my service with the RMAF, I attended numerous professional courses both in country and overseas. Of particular mention are: Search and Rescue (SAR) Course at the United States Coast Guard (USCG) SAR School in Governor’s Island, New York, USA; Qualified Helicopter Flying Instructor’s Course at Royal Air Force Base Shawbury, United Kingdom; Flying Supervisors’ Course at Royal Air Force College Cranwell, United Kingdom; Command and Staff College at Royal New Zealand Air Force Base Auckland, New Zealand; Steven Covey’s ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ at Kuala Lumpur; Management and Total Quality Management (TQM) courses at INTAN, Kuala Lumpur; Defence College Course at Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College, Kuala Lumpur and Pacific Air Doctrine Symposium at USAF Air Base Anderssen, Guam. Having reached the rank of Brigadier General, I have extensive experience and skills as a manager, commander, leader, planner, trainer and supervisor. I have very good interpersonal social skills and am able to interact easily with people of all walks of life and at all levels of hierarchy. I have a very good command of the English Language, both spoken and written and am able to communicate well in Bahasa Malaysia as well. I am physically and medically fit and am a fairly good Golfer and swimmer.

I am currently the Chief Executive Officer and Principal of the HM Aerospace, Flight Training Academy in Langkawi, responsible for training Airline Pilots for MAS, Air Asia and other airlines.

I have been bestowed with many awards and medals during my distinguished career in
