Report on Swachhta Pakhwada

The NIPCCD RC (I) is observing Swachhta Pakhwada to spread the

message of cleanliness and hygiene and to increase the participation of

every individual in Swachhta Abhiyan during 01 – 15 March, 2017. In this

regards, various events were organized on 07th March 2017 which are as

follows:

I. Talk on Cleanliness and Personal Hygiene in Nearby School

An activity based talk on “cleanliness and personal hygiene” under

Swacchata Pakhawada was organized by Shri. Nilesh Shinde in Shree

Shanti Vidhya Niketan, Hathod, Dist. Indore, Madhya Pradesh with the

active co-operation of Dr. Sharad Chandra Jain, Director of this school. All

the teaching staff, school management officials and students participated

actively and joyfully. Important highlights of this talk were oath taking for

cleanliness and personal hygiene and demonstrating hand washing

technique. At the closure of this talk, students were requested to start the

commitment for cleanliness by throwing the waste material present in

their school bag in dustbin which they all did very enthusiastically.

II. “Talk on Personal Hygiene and Sanitation” in Child Care

Centre, Indore

An awareness talk was organized in Observation home

Pardeshipura, Indore which was attended by about 11-12 children and

staff of CCI. Sh. Sumit Duggal, AD and Sh. Kushal Singh Dangi, Project

Assistant facilitated the event and interacted with children. WHO Hand

wash techniques and brushing the teeth were demonstrated to the

children. They were sensitised through lecture supported by Audio-visual

aids. They discussed about objectives of the Swatchhta Pakhwada and

shared the benefits of personal hygiene and sanitation.

III. Cleanliness Drive in Hostel Canteen:

A Cleanliness drive was initiated in NIPCCD RC (I) Hostel

Canteen.Dr. Aneel V.B. Babu, Dy. Director and Dr. Rajesh Mishra, AD

along with the support staff participated in this cleanliness drive.

Cleanliness activities were undertaken in the wash area of hostel canteen.

The outlet of the wash area was found choked which was cleared during

the drive. The other areas of hostel canteen was also cleaned under the

drive today.

Report of day V, March 7, 2017

The highlight of the fifth day of Swachhta Pakhwada being observed by RC(G) had

been Shram Daan by the staff members. All the staff members engaged in carrying out

cleanliness drive in hostel, the office campus and also the personal spaces. The day began

with cleaning the campus of the office and the hostel. The focus was on weeding out the

garbage from the gardens and vulnerable corners like the backyards of the hostel, the office

and also particularly garbage bin area. The entire NIPCCD RC(G) family enthusiastically got

involved in the Shram Daan process. All took up the brooms, spades, garbage trolleys etc. to

collectively accomplish the task of achieving a clean office surrounding. Importance was also

given to disinfect some areas by using bleaching powder, phenyl etc. after cleaning.

The cleaning brigade then moved inside the hostel and cleaned some common areas

of the hostel as well as the guest house. Those corners of the hostel building which are not

regularly included in the cleaning process were identified and cleaned. Besides, kitchen and

dining hall were also visited by the team to follow up maintenance of cleanliness by the

catering staff. In the afternoon, the staff members in small groups got engaged in cleaning the

personal and common spaces of the office.

The day’s activities came to an end with a signature campaign.

07.03.2017 (Tuesday)

1.) Cleanliness audit of canteen, dining hall, kitchen and mess area

NIPCCD SRC Hostel canteen, dining hall, kitchen and mess

area, Yelahanka, Bangalore is examined and some suggestions were also

given to caterer and the staff to incorporate such as keeping utensils after

washing on table/clean place instead of floor, keeping spices and other

eatables in container instead of polythene sachets etc. The suggestions

were improved on-the-spot by the staff of canteen.

2) Slogan Writing/Poster making activity by participants on Bal

Swachchta Mission

They wrote slogans like “Swachch Bharat, Unnat Bharat”, “”Clean Nation is Healthy

Nation” and also other slogans in their Regional language (Kannada) etc.

3) Film Show for Staff on Swachchta Mission, Sanitation and Hygiene

Ms. Aliya Tayyaba, RA and Mr. Raghvan, Library Assistant has shown short

films on Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan in India which includes topic such as method of

hand washing, segregation of garbage as wet, Dry and hazardous; motivating

common public toward cleanliness etc.

4) Cleanliness drive in CGC

The cleanliness in the CGC was continued, which includes cleanliness of staff cabins

especially door glasses, cupboards, almirah’s, cleaning and segregation of kid’s play

toys, and also preparation of some informative charts for parents to be displayed on

notice board of CGC.

5) Sharing of news/social media coverage on Swachchta theme

In this activity, the team has displayed various news/articles/photographs related to

Swachchta Pakhwara celebration throughout the India. It also includes inauguration

pictures of Swachchta Pakhwara by various Ministries/ departments such as different

Depts. of MWCD, Ministry of Railway Depts., Health Dept. etc.

6) Session on Bal Swachchta Mission at CDPO Office for AWWs

An interactive session was held with AWWs of ICDS Bangalore north. The matters

relating to Swachch Bharat Aandolan was discussed with special focus on Bal

Swachhta Mission and its thrust areas. A presentation on personal and

environmental hygiene was made to the participants.
