Nominations now open for Board of Stewards and Nominating Committee

Every year Trinity elects new members to our Board of Stewards and Nominating Committee. Please take the opportunity to nominate a candidate, or candidates, for the Nominating Committee (two vacancies) and the Board of Stewards (four vacancies). Nominations close Sunday, December 4.

If you wish to nominate a Trinity member, please get that person’s approval and then give the name or names to a Nominating committee member (Karen Burton, Dan Carlson, Gwen Larson, Dick Nelson, BOS Rep Bill Weigel, and ex-oCcio member Pastor Peter Vogt).

Outreach to our Neighbors - Christmas Hope 2016

On Wednesday evening, December 14, Trinity will once again host Christmas Hope, an event that distributes toys, clothing and personal care items to needy families in our community. Last year, 1,000 kids received donated gifts. Guests will receive a Bible, a meal, socks, mittens, hats, children’s books, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. These gifts will come from Trinity and various local businesses and churches who choose to contribute. Toys are provided by the annual Toys for Tots drive headed by the US Marine Corps. Trinity musicians will oFer entertainment throughout the evening. How can you help? Volunteer your time - there are many opportunities. See Ross Rud for details. Give money - place your check in an oFering envelope and mark it for Christmas Hope. Bring children’s socks - sizes 2-10, and place them in the box that will be in the foyer. Questions? See Cami Vogt, Kathy Erickson, Dave Healy, or Wendy Vlasich of the Neighborhood Engagement Team (NET). And look for more information in the Times in the coming weeks.

A new representative: Congratulations to Trinity member and Board of Stewards Chair, Randy Jessup on winning the Minnesota State Representative seat in District 42A. He represents Arden Hills, Shoreview and Mounds View.

Help build a wall of Blessing Bricks: During this season of thanksgiving and moving into the Christmas season, we have many reasons to feel blessed. Now you have an opportunity to share those blessings with all of Trinity. In the East hallway, across from the Community Care Room (Room 103), Children’s Ministries Director Mindy Boe invites all Trinityites to write your blessings on a paper “brick.” These bricks will then be put up on the wall for all to see - the goal is to fill a wall, or two, with Blessing Bricks. The Blessing Bricks will stay up into the new year.

When it snows: When an event at Trinity is cancelled because of inclement weather or cold, you may get the information in the following ways: Call Trinity (651-774-8609, then press 0) and listen to the message, or check Facebook or our website (tbcmn.org). We will also do our best to post the weather-closings information at www.ktis.fm.

Looking for Our Daily Bread? Trinity has about 20 copies of Our Daily Bread available every quarter. However, if you would like to receive your own copy in the mail, you can subscribe at www.odb.org. The devotional books are mailed free of charge.

Trinity Talk

Page 3: Date changes for Wednesday Trinity Times evenings coming soon!€¦ · In June 2015, the Board of Stewards appointed a Name Change Assessment Committee to wrestle with the question

Sta - Out and About Pastor Peter represented Trinity at a benefit for Our Lady of Peace Hospice. This amazing ministry serves the dying without charging for their services. Several members of Trinity have been served through this ministry over the last few years.

Preparing to Be LifePointers In June 2015, the Board of Stewards appointed a Name Change Assessment Committee to wrestle with the question of whether we should change the name of our church as part of our eForts to live out our calling and to be able to communicate more eFectively all that the Lord is doing here.

After much prayer, discussion, research, and reflection, the congregation voted last Sunday to change the name of the church to LifePoint Church. We will now enter into the implementation phase of this process, where details are worked out about how to most eFectively make this change. We want to have the greatest kingdom impact possible through this change. Please pray for wisdom, creativity, and clarity in that process. At the same time, we need to prepare ourselves to be “LifePointers.” In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I have come that they might have life, and have it abundantly.” As Christ followers, we are called to point others to the source of abundant life. Jesus also says in John 14:6 that he is the way, the truth, and the life. As such he is the point of our lives. In these ways, we are called to be “LifePointers.” I want to encourage each one of us to pray that God will help us to be ready to serve the world around us by pointing the way to the source of true life, Jesus. May He be glorified in all we do as we seek to continue to love and serve our neighborhood and world in His name! In Christ, Pastor Peter
