School Community News Number: 38 Date: 9th December 2015 Welcome to week 10, term 4 2015! Leaving TRBPS: As mentioned in prior newsletters, student numbers are now crucial for planning for next year. Please notify the office promptly if for any reason your child/children will not be returning next year so we can plan our class structure and ensure we have the right amount of teaching staff to best serve the community. ‘Moving On Up Day/ Transition Morning at TRBPS: This event was held on Tuesday from 11.10-12.00pm. The students enjoyed a taste of 2016 as part of our whole school transition program where they visited and spent time finding out all about what happens in the next year level - with the current teachers of each level. Our year 6 students attended their local Secondary College as part of the Victorian State Schools regular Year 6-7 transition/orientation program. Next week the students will find out who their teacher will be for 2016 and spend some time in a meet and greet session. The children are all very excited as the end of the year fast approaches; they are enjoying the transition program and look forward to meeting their teacher for 2016 next week. PFA Luncheon: It was an absolute pleasure to attend the beautiful luncheon that was prepared for parents and staff to attend together on Friday December 4. We had a really nice time relaxing and chatting together. Joan Kitson who is retiring this year was presented with flowers; unfortunately Joan was absent on the day but the flowers were passed onto her to enjoy. A special thank you is extended to Mrs Alexis Martin and Mrs Fiona Thomas for setting up the hall and thank you also to all of the families who made such wonderful food for us to enjoy, it was very much appreciated by all staff. The staff were lucky enough to enjoy some wonderful donated raffle gifts; so thank you to our parent community and others for their kind thoughts and donations. The staff felt very spoilt! The Year 6 Graduation Ceremony The more formal Graduation Ceremony will to take place this year at Brighton Secondary College on Thursday December 10 from 6.30 – 8.30pm. The students will receive their graduation certificates from Mr Moore and I and a gift from the PFA on the night. The students are currently working very hard on creating a speech about the highlights and great memories of primary school and their graduation performance. Mr John Moore (SC President) will attend the formal graduation ceremony on behalf of SC to speak to the exiting students and wish them all the best for their future schooling, as well as to assist with presenting the Graduation Certificates. The fun dinner and disco will take place next Tuesday- December 15- in the school hall, students are to arrive at around 6.15pm, ready to enjoy dinner at 6.30pm. Staffing - 2016 TRBPS is fortunate to have a multi-skilled and professional teaching and non-teaching staff who are generous with their time devoted to planning, preparation, teaching and supporting. There is a strong commitment to continued professional learning and advancing skills which often transfers positively to our children. I am most grateful to all staff for their dedication, generosity of spirit and preparedness to do the very best for the children to provide a rich, rewarding and stimulating education that encourages the children to strive for excellence. My sincere thanks go to the members of the leadership team, classroom teachers, specialists and the non-teaching education support staff who all work very hard to ensure everything runs very smoothly at TRBPS for all of the students and parents! Welcome to week 10, term 4 2015!

Leaving TRBPS: As mentioned in prior newsletters, student numbers are now crucial for planning for next year. Please notify the office promptly

if for any reason your child/children will not be returning next year so we can plan our class structure and ensure we have the right

amount of teaching staff to best serve the community.

‘Moving On Up Day’ / Transition Morning at TRBPS: This event was held on Tuesday from 11.10-12.00pm. The students enjoyed a taste of 2016 as part of our whole school transition

program where they visited and spent time finding out all about what happens in the next year level - with the current teachers of

each level. Our year 6 students attended their local Secondary College as part of the Victorian State Schools regular Year 6-7

transition/orientation program. Next week the students will find out who their teacher will be for 2016 and spend some time in a

meet and greet session. The children are all very excited as the end of the year fast approaches; they are enjoying the transition

program and look forward to meeting their teacher for 2016 next week.

PFA Luncheon: It was an absolute pleasure to attend the beautiful luncheon that was prepared for parents and staff to attend together on Friday

December 4. We had a really nice time relaxing and chatting together. Joan Kitson who is retiring this year was presented with

flowers; unfortunately Joan was absent on the day but the flowers were passed onto her to enjoy. A special thank you is extended

to Mrs Alexis Martin and Mrs Fiona Thomas for setting up the hall and thank you also to all of the families who made such

wonderful food for us to enjoy, it was very much appreciated by all staff. The staff were lucky enough to enjoy some wonderful

School Council: We have concluded School Council meetings for 2015 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the

council members and the sub-committee members (volunteers) on behalf of the entire school community. They have

worked tirelessly and we have valued all of their great input into the school this year.

guidance has been immensely appreciated during my first year as the TRBPS Principal.

facilitating this school committee and Mrs Kath Esdaile as secretary. Thank you for all of your hard work, we are very

lucky to have such a committed team of interested parents. They all work tirelessly with fundraising and assisting at

various events throughout the year that benefit the school enormously.

Monday 14th December. Instead there will be

an assembly 1.15pm on Friday 18th

December last day of school.

Last School Day for Students 2014 Friday 18th December is the final day of

school for students. Students will be

dismissed at 1:30 pm following an assembly

at 1:10 pm.

First Day 2016 For Students All students from Year 1 to Year 6

commence on Thursday 28th January. The

2016 school year will commence with a

whole school assembly.

Junior School Sports - Junior School Sports will now take place

tomorrow Thursday 10th December at

Rowans Road Athletic Track.

money is placed in an envelope with the

child’s name and class.

Canteen – Final Day Tuesday 15th December The final day of canteen operation will be

Tuesday 15th December. The canteen WILL

NOT OPERATE on Thursday 18th

December. This day will be used for a stock

take and cleaning.

The canteen will re-open for 2015 on

Art Room Stools The Art Room has upgraded its stools. There

are a number of the old stools in the corridor

outside the Music Room. If anyone is

interested in them, they are available to be

taken until the end of this Friday. It is a first

in best dressed arrangement.

School Banking Thank You School Banking finished for the year last

PFA Raffle Results Thank you to everyone who supported the PFA Raffle. The raffle raised & $1584.00 A fantastic effort. The lucky winners were:

THANK YOU to our wonderful and indispensable volunteers who helped guide our new – and repeat! – parents through our uniform requirements. We love being able to hand out school hats to all the new Preps as a welcome gift from the PFA also. Such a buzz.

Special thanks to Lois Curry and Ruth Loiacono for their tireless efforts in wrangling us volunteers! And Anna Leech for managing the Hats so well.

The Icy Poles are on Us! Wishing all our sporting stars a fun morning. Good Luck – Race Well! Parent/Staff Christmas Luncheon What a fun lunch we had! The parents got to chat with the teachers at an informal environment whilst enjoying some scrumptious food. Big thank you to Mel Jacobs at Monash Catering for the amazing curry and noodle dishes. This would not have been the success it was without the effort of some amazing women. Many of these provided dishes, salads, and sweets PLUS helped set up and clean up. The inaugural Teacher Raffle was hilarious. THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone else who turned up, donated their time and food to this successful lunch!

GOOD BYE - GOOD LUCK! It is with a heavy heart that the Parents and Friends Association farewell Fiona Thomas, our current Vice President. Fiona has served as President of the PFA and has guided us all with great insight, dedication and care. Her tireless energy for the roles has been inspirational. THANK YOU! We wish Fiona and her family well as they leave Tucker Road Primary School for new adventures. Please take a moment to wish her well when you see her in the playground. Exciting times are ahead for the Thomas Family – you will be missed.

CANTEEN ROSTER

Canteen needs the help of mums and dads to provide the twice-weekly canteen service

that is provided on a Tuesday and Thursday. At least two volunteers are required.

Children enjoy seeing their parents at the canteen and it is an enjoyable and social time for parents as well. Tea/coffee, morning tea

and lunch are provided.

(Working in the canteen does not require any food preparation).

Whilst the roster applies to the whole year you may wish to help only on a specific day(s) please indicate this in the comments

section. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
