About the University: University of Gour Banga has been established by the West Bengal legislative Assembly vide West Bengal act XXVI of 2007 and is located at English Bazar Town of Malda district. The University is recognized by the UGC under Section 2(F) of the UGC Act, 1956. At present the University is fully funded by the Govt. of West Bengal. Being surrounded by a rural setting, the University is determined to be a center of excellence and to increase the access to quality higher education for people in District of Malda, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. The Mission of all the faculty members of this University is to contribute their best for fostering academically qualified and socially conscious students. At present the University offers 18 PG departments including Arts, Science and Commerce having student strength near about 2500. There are 24 General Degree and 28 B.Ed colleges under the University. state of West Bengal with well set up administration. The University offers Post – Graduate, Master of Philosophy and Doctoral Courses.

About the Department of Political Science:

The Department of Political Science at the University of Gour Banga was started its journey in the year 2012. Currently the department has two faculty members. The faculty members combine their commitment to research with the devotion for teaching. Our faculty members are committed to work and monitor closely with students of the department. They interact with several national and International bodies, research centers, and universities. The Department has produced numerous Masters Degree holders. Many of them are appointed in several government services, school, colleges and universities. The department offers M.A, M.PHIL and Ph D.

Objectives of the Seminar:

The aim of this Seminar is to find out the shared knowledge and experience among the Academicians, Teachers, Research Scholars and Students for better understanding the emerging trends in Indian Politics. The main objectives of the National seminar are:

1. To find out the present trends of Indian politics

2. To discuss and interaction on the issues of changing dimensions of Indian political phenomena.

3. To provide a free platform for academicians, research scholars, teachers, and students to meet and interact for finding out solutions to the several issues of contemporary Indian politics.

Sub-themes of the Seminar:

Papers may address, but are not limited to the following subthemes:

1. Ethnicity and Nation Building in India.2. Indian Political and Administrative Culture and its changing dimentions.

Submission of FULL PAPERS:

We invite original papers from teachers, academicians, researcher scholars, eminent politiciansand students. Full paper should not be more than 10-12 A4 size pages excluding title, name of the author, institution, E-mail , mobile no, content and keywords, bibliography and appendices.Abstract should be in TIME NEW ROMAN (font-12), single line spacing and 1inch margin on all sides of the page in MS Word for English in word format. Proceeding of the National Seminar paper will be published in the form of an edited book with ISBN. Papers must only be submitted through E-mail at [email protected] or [email protected] by 10th January2015.
