I have handed out my questionnaire to a range of different age groups so I could understand a variety of different age groups understanding of music videos of if they consumer, how they consume it, and what style of video they would like. I also wanted to make my research fairer as my target audience may change younger or higher, so I have a varied the age grouped. However, the questionnaire could be classed as unfair, as I mainly attracted 16-18 which is my target audience. However I have done this so I could understand a range of the age group more.

I have made sure that my questionnaire is fair by making sure that I ask equal amounts of genders as I want both females and males to enjoy my music video. This would be a good opportunity to find out similarities and differences of a range of genders and for what I should do with my music video. As my target audience is 16-18 where I asked 10, this is also equal gender who answered my questionnaire by 5 males and 5 females, so I can make a judgement on the gender target audience for my music video.

I got people to choose top 3 as I wanted to get a feel of what hybridity of genre a mix of people liked. My top results were rock, alternative and metal, which isn’t any of my genres. However folk came in 4th which is one of the two genres for my music video, but this genre didn’t appeal much to my target audience as only 2 out of 10 in the 16 – 18 said they liked it. However similar artist currently in the music industry are very popular with my target audience. My other genre pop was joint 6th with drum and bass, RnB, grime. What I have found is people who liked pop liked RnB also

and also it was also mainly like by the younger aged groups as well below 11, so this has widen my target audience to around 10 to 18 years old.

I found that most older people from above 30 don’t watch music videos as they are not interested or they don’t use the technology to the full extent to do so, as they don’t properly understand how to use it. But there was a few younger people ranging from 16-30 who don’t watch music videos. However the majority of my questionnaire did answer saying they do.

Most people would or watch music videos on YouTube. This can be accessed by many devices such as computers, phones, iPods, TVs gadgets as well gaming gadgets. As well it also free to use, so this would be the best place to store my music video as it can be viewed by over 1 million people. People could buy them from ITunes and store them on their IPods and IPhones (biggest phone distributer worldwide), this would also be a good place to put my music video as it could be assessed by millions of people again, however IPods haven’t

got a high range of people consuming music videos, but phones are but this doesn’t take in account what phone they have so it has a potential not to work.

7. Is there a memorable music video? If yes please state what and why?

When answering this question most people answer with I don’t know, as most of them didn’t have a favourite music video or they couldn’t remember them. Most people who did write down about a music video they found memorable they choose several different music videos and state them liked them because they found them funny. But im not making a funny, so I feel like im not going to make a memorable music video.

8. Would you like the music video to contain a performance aspect and why?

When people answered this, the results where most people said yes to the question as it is more interesting, increases entertainment quality across to the viewer and it delivers the song better as they get into the song more. This result is good as I am planning on putting parts within my music video which is performance related, so people who watch it will hopefully like it.

9. Would you like the music video to contain a narrative aspect and why?

When people answered this, the results where spilt as just over half said yes. The response I got was it complements the song as it follows the song nicely with its story line as it relates to the song, as well people can relate to the storyline and the song of the music video. However people who answered no said it can be too cheesy, they sometimes don’t understand the storyline to how it relates to the song, it can be boring at times and it can spoil the song. I am planning to do a narrative music video as I want people to enjoy the music video and relate to it, as it would be a short story unfolded.

10. Would you like the music video to contain a conceptual (abstract) aspect and why?

When people answered this, the results where most people said no as they many said it is confusing and irritating as it has sometimes doesn’t relate to the song or it is hard to relate to the song. However the few who said yes said its looks interesting, good and fun to watch. As im not doing a conceptual video, this result is good as most people don’t like it anyways.
