1. Install MARC Edit

Download MARC Edit from http://oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/index.php.

Download .NET Framework here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

Or find required software in your workshop folder.

Launch Marc Edit

2. Prepare Tab Delimited File

Open file "sample-data-migration.xls" file in your workshop folder.

Save your excel file in .txt format(Tab delimited format)

In notepad, the text file will look like this:

3. Convert text file to .mrk format

Launch the "Delimited Text Translator" add-in.

Specify the input the outout files.

Map columns in text file to Marc tags, something like this:

4. Convert .mrk to .mrc

Launch MarcMaker

Specify input and output files

Click Execute

You can now import your records either by bulkmarcimport.pl or via Koha's GUI tool.

5. Import using bulkmarcimport.pl

Run bulkmarcimport.pl command:

6. Import using Koha's GUI import tool

Go to Staff Client -> Tools -> Stage MARC Records for Import:

Upload your .mrc file

Review staged records:

7. Migrating multiple copies of one biblio

Use Record matching rules (e.g. using ISBN or ISSN numbers) to include multiplecopies into one biblio. The biblio must already be in the Koha database.
