They should be able to type at least 40 words per minute and know how to perform basic file management skills such as saving, deleting, copying and backing up files. High school students should have successfully completed English, computer, business, and math classes. Keyboarding skills are required. The Data Analytics Technician program provides students with highly marketable skills in data collection, data analysis, communication, organization, time management, and problem solving. Students will develop queries for data conversion into readable, analyzable, and informational documents for employers and other end users. Curriculum integrates database, spreadsheets, programming/scripting, and mathematics courses. Students may complete the program on the BSC campus and many courses are available to complete online. The two- year program includes databases, spreadsheets, Python, XML, and SQL training in conjunction with continued math and business studies. Those who complete the required curriculum for the two-year program earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. A three-year program is available for those students who may need to take additional time with the curriculum. Many courses in the Data Analytics Technician program may be used for transfer to a four-year information analytics degree program.
