About the Department The Department is one of the high ranking departments of the country with respect to teaching and research. During past 60 years, the department has earned for itself an excellent reputation in teaching and research with specialization in Statistical Inference, Bayesian Inference, Survey Sampling, Econometrics, Bio-Statistics, Design of Experiments, Gender Statistics, Quality Management, Population Studies and other applied areas of statistics. The department has conducted a series of summer schools, orientation programs, workshops and seminars, invited talks, training programs, national and international conferences. There is an adequate provision for teaching and research in almost all branches of the Statistics. The department has rich library and three computer laboratories well-equipped with latest statistical software for analytical purposes.
Target Audience The workshop is suitable for the Faculty Members, Research Scholars & students of management, basic sciences, humanities,
social sciences and all other disciplines involved in data analysis.
About the Workshop Recent advancements in research methodologies are the needs of the researchers for learning and understanding statistical tools for the analysis of data. The present workshop aims to discuss various statistical concepts commonly used in real life using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) software through series of examples. SPSS has become very popular software among academicians & researchers for data analysis nowadays due to its easy to handle and interactive interface. However, it is important for the users to be able to apply proper statistical tools for meaningful results & their interpretations. The course contents will include introduction to SPSS environment, data importing, exporting, data management, data exploration, testing of hypothesis using parametric and non-parametric methods, correlation and association, linear and non-linear regression analysis, and other multivariate techniques using SPSS.
