Darwin’s Town House a Boutique 20 Bedroom Georgian Town House completely refurbished in 2016. We are privately owned and run and take pride in making our guests welcome and feel at home. We will be delighted to offer any advice on planning a trip through Shrewsbury and the surrounding area explaining some of the secret hidden Gems that Shrewsbury has to offer.

Darwin’s Town House is located steps from the River Severn Path and Minutes from the ‘Original Shrewsbury One Off’ with its Black and White Tudor Town Centre. With its Higgledy pig idly streets with names you want to say out loud, A River that scoops up the town in a loop with its eclectic mix of independent shops and High Street stores. A mix of the very old and the very new, the quirky and the one offs.

ParkingWe are located steps from St Julian Friars long Term car park which is just £4 all day and £1 all day on Sundays.

Breakfast We offer a full Breakfast menu with all locally sourced ingredients and freshly prepared by our chefs.

Lunch and DinnerWe do have two sister restaurants The Loopy Shrew serving traditional English cuisine and Porterhouse offering American flavour British Behaviour, just a few minutes’ walk away and enticing you with a 10% family discount off your final bill.

AccommodationWe have twenty ensuite Bedrooms.

Private useThe whole house can be hired for exclusive use.

Dogs Are welcome in the Garden Rooms of the hotel, please provide your own dog bedding but ask that you are mindful of the Furniture.

The Night before…You and your guests can reserve accommodation at the Town House the night before your day. A Table can be organised at either Porterhouse or the Loopy Shrew for Drinks or Dinner where our family discount will apply.

The DayTurn up, relax and enjoy one of the most memorable days of your life we will take care of the rest.

Things to know...● We only provide exclusive weddings and so the whole house has to be taken by your party, which is twenty bedrooms.● Our Executive Chef from Porter House and The Loopy Shrew over sees the catering for all weddings.● We prepare all food from fresh local ingredients and can make any menu bespoke for you and are happy for you to meet with chef to discuss your ideas.● We would ask that only one menu choice is made for the whole party.● We can seat up to 50 guest for your wedding meal and cater up to 80 for the evening.● Live music can be accomadated. ● We are licensed until 12.30am and Home/Bed Time is 1am. ● We can help arrange your Hen and Stag nights or pre-wedding gatherings at the Loopy Shrew or Porterhouse.

What rooms are available to you during your wedding?

The Garden ConservatoryA Bright and Airy Room with Beams overlooking the gardens with direct access on to the lawns. Seating a maximum of 50 guests for a formal wedding Breakfast and 80 for the evening Party. Live music can be held here but all rooms must be taken by your guests.

This room will be cleared down for your evening party.

The SnugA quiet Cosy Room with comfy sofas and chairs and a small bar. Original Fireplace and ornate Grade 2* listed plaster work. This can be used for guests throughout the day and reception drinks if the weather is bad.

The Octagonal LoungeA Beautiful Room with an Ornate Grade 2* listed domed ceiling depicting the zodiac, comfortable sofas and chairs with original fireplace and fire. This room can be used throughout your stay and for reception drinks if the weather is bad.

Darwin’s GardensThe Gardens can be enjoyed for reception drinks and photographs.

The QuarryThe River Path is steps away from the townhouse for any other photography you may like, taking in our beautiful river Severn.

Our menus are prepared by Rosette awarded Chef’s from the Loopy Shrew and Porterhouse using the best possible locally sourced ingredients. These menu suggestions are meant as a guide. We are happy to discuss your ideas with our chefs and quote a price. Some dishes on these menus may contain nut products and food substance to which you may be allergic, please check if in doubt. We would request that your menu choice is the same for each member of your party, in order to ensure consistent standards of presentation, quality and service. Vegetarian or special dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice.

Weddings and Functions

ConfirmationAll bookings must be confirmed in writing with the appropriate deposit within one month of the booking being made. To secure the booking a non refundable deposit of £500 is required. In addition a deposit of £25 is required for each accommodation booking.

Minimum NumbersA minimum number policy will apply. However, this can be waived if a room hire charge can be agreed.

CancellationAll deposits are non refundable unless a prior agreement has been made in writing with the hotel management.

Period Of Notice

● Deposit of £250.00 which is non refundable

● 26 weeks notice no charges

● 13 to 26 weeks notice 50% charge

● 7 to 13 weeks’ notice 75% charge

● 0 to 7 weeks’ notice full charges to be made

PaymentAll monies due must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to the date of the function.

Final NumbersThe menu selection and final numbers must be agreed no later than 2 weeks prior to your function. If your numbers drop below the minimum number agreed in writing, a room hire charge will be legally incurred.

PricesWhilst the Town House management will endeavour to keep price increases to a minimum, all accounts will be charged at the current prices set by the hotel on the date of the event unless otherwise agreed in writing by the hotel management.

DamagesThe hirer will be responsible for any loss or damage to the hotel premises, fixtures, fittings and equipment which may be caused by the hirer’s guests.

Accommodation ArrangementsIf guests wish to stay overnight then rooms can either be allocated by the Bride and groom or guests can book direct with the hotel ~ either way a deposit of £20.00 per room is required.
