• Total number of households in American Samoa is 9,349.
• 15% of households are headed by women.
• 7% of households headed by women have their children under the age of 18.
• 94% of the women in the labor force are employed.

• There are 11 women directors out of an overall 54 positions.
• There are no women in Judicial or House seats.

• Boards are appointed by the Governor.
• No women on the Boards for telecommunications, medical, or power authorities.
• Women hold CEO and CFO for the power authority.

• Out of then 57 village mayors in the Territory, none are women.
• A small number of women are involved in village policing.

• The number of women will fluctuate annually base on the Board elections.

Women and NGOs
• Women show a strong presence in our labor force.
• Women play a strong role in government operations.
• Women need to increase their numbers in our government decision-making bodies.
• More data is needed to mark women’s roles in village authority.
• More data needed for women’s roles in the private sector.
• The 2010 Census data will show us where women are now (US government is still producing the data).
