The setting takes place in Greg’s house and at his school. Greg family lives in a two-story house. The story’s time period is January- June.

• Greg is a normal kid who tries to get through life without his family getting on his nerves.

• Rodrick is Greg’s older brother who likes to get Greg in trouble and beat him up.

• Manny is Greg’s younger brother who never listens to Greg and gets away with everything.

• Greg’s mom still treats Greg like a baby and he hates that.

• Greg’s dad tries to make Greg play more sports but Greg doesn’t like to play lots to play a lot of sports.

• The conflict in the story is when Greg’s dad makes Greg play soccer because Greg’s dad saw how good his boss’s kids were at playing soccer so he wanted Greg to be just as good as his boss’s kids were. Even as soon as Greg’s dad figures out Greg sucks at playing soccer.

• Greg tries to ask out a girl named Holly before school is over but Greg is too scared to ask her out. Greg waits to long to ask her and he never did. When school was over Greg was sad because he didn’t ask her. Greg is happy now because a girl named Trista just moved down the street and Greg likes her.

• I thought Diary of a Wimpy The Last Straw was a amazing story. I loved this book because it talks about what Greg did in school.

• You see, Frank Heffley actually think he can get his son to toughen up , and he enlists Greg in organized sports and other “manly” things. Of course , Greg is easily able to sidestep his father’s efforts to change him. But when Greg’s dad threatens to send him to military academy, Greg realizes he has to shape up… or get shipped out.
