Chastened in prison and desiring to serve prisoners

expire, many employers fail to renew them and the women become illegal immigrants. If they are caught, they are treated to sloppy police work and the antiquated Franco-Arabic legal system, which give little consider-ation to their basic human rights. When we first met Wilma, she openly shared that she ran a small restaurant for maids in a poor neigh-borhood, where some local people accused her of running a brothel. She vehemently swore that she was innocent. Elma spent several weeks praying and counselling Wilma. We shared with Wilma the biblical story of Joseph, who was falsely accused of rape and thrown in prison. The only Advocate he had was God. In the end, it was God who wonderfully worked out a release from prison.

After many prayers, God came through for Wilma as well—she was cleared of charges and released from prison! And having seen the condi-tions of the prison and experienced how much the women missed not having hot cooked meals, Wilma now sends food from her restaurant to the women in the Adlieh prison every week.
