U djelu „Igra ili ništa“ sociolog Ratko Božović je zapisao: „Ako je igra u temeljima umjetnosti, onda i umjetnost može postati radost imaginarnog života.“ Upravo ta radost stvaranja nekih drugih svjetova kroz igru zrači iz djela crnogorskog fotografa Damira Murseljevića, čija izložba „The private psychedelic reel” krasi prostor galerije „Klub“.

Koliko su kreativne mogućnosti fotografije veće od pukog hvatanja određenih imaginacija istrgnutih iz realnosti, dokazuju djela koja ovom mediju daju drugačiju i višu dimenziju. Nesputana energija, strast i inovativnost koje naprosto izviru iz Damirovog umjetničkog opusa, potvrda su te kreativne mogućnosti fotografije.

Koristeći višestruku ekspoziciju, koja podrazumjeva preklapanje dva ili više kadrova, on gradi lični umjetnički izraz. Spajajući fotografije u neodvojivu cjelinu, polagajući ih na crnoj traci, Damir posmatrača uvodi u originalnu mrežu razvitka jednog filma. Konstantnom gradacijom prelaza iz svijetlog u tamno, i obrnuto, umjetnikova priča dobija i muzičku notu, što potvrđuje i soundtrack koji se može naći na stranicama ovog kataloga. Igrom svjetlosti postiže određenu dozu dramatičnosti i ritmičkog talasanja, koje kao da same od sebe prave određene prizvuke.

Potopljeni pejzaži gradova, katedrale uronjene u rijeku, plavetnilom okupana lica prelijepih djevojaka rezultat su lirične igre sa umjetnošću. Kako i sam kaže, većina ovih predstava nastale su slučajnim sudarom dva odvojena kadra, snimljenim na dvije potpuno različite lokacije, često i na suprotnim stranama svijeta. Efekat iznenađenja je upravo ono što produbljuje smisao umjetnikovog stvaralaštva. Dopušta sebi da pomjera granice time što emituje ono realistično na magično nadrealan način. Ovdje figuralno postaje apstraktno i vraća nas prizorima sličnim snoviđenjima. Iako je voda motiv koji se ponavlja na svakoj od fotografija, ne možemo reći i da je primaran. Njome, koja se nalazi svuda oko nas, pa i u nama, Damir naglašava bezgraničnost kreativnog duha. Koliko je ona potrebna čovjeku u svim sferama života toliko je i stvaranje ono što upotpunjuje umjetnikovo postojanje. Svi ostali motivi su harmonično umreženi u cjelinu i ostavljaju posmatraču prostora da ih misli i doživljava na svojstven način. Nesvakidašnjom izložbom umjetnik nas vodi na putovanje kroz paralelni univerzum, svijet imaginacije, podsvjesnih iluzija i emocionalne kreativnosti, svijet u kojem snovi postaju stvarnost. Dopustimo mu da nas uhvati za ruku i ispriča nam priču o razigranoj beskrajnosti stvaranja.

In his work “Play or Nothing” the sociologist Ratko Bozovic wrote: “If play is in the basics of art then art can also become the joy of imaginary life.” It is precisely this joy of creating other worlds through play that emanates from the works of the Montenegrin photographer Damir Murseljevic whose exhibition “The Private Psychedelic Reel” adorns the “Klub” gallery.

The extent to which the creative possibilities of photography are larger than just capturing certain imaginations torn out of reality is proved by the works that provide a different and higher dimension to this media. Unbridled energy, passion and innovation that simply spring from Damir’s artistic oeuvre are a confirmation of the creative possibilities of photography.

By using multiple exposures, which includes overlapping of two or more frames, he develops a personal artistic expression. By merging photographs into an inseparable entirety, by laying them down on a black strip Damir introduces the observer into the original network of the development of a film. By constant gradation of transitions from light to dark and vice versa, the artist’s story acquires a musical note as confirmed by the soundtrack which can be found on the pages of this catalogue. Through a play of light he achieves a specific amount of drama and rhythmic undulation which appear to be creating certain overtones all by themselves.

Submerged city landscapes, cathedrals immersed in the river, faces of beautiful girls bathed in blueness are the result of a lyrical play with art. As he himself says, most of these images were created by random collision of two separate frames, recorded at two completely different locations and often on opposite sides of the world. The effect of surprise is exactly what deepens the sense of the artist’s creativity. He allows himself to push the boundaries by emitting what is realistic in a magically surreal manner. Here the figurative becomes abstract and takes us back to scenes similar to dream visions. Although water is the motif that is repeated on each of the photographs we cannot say that it is the primary one. Through water, which is all around us and even in us, Damir emphasizes the boundlessness of the creative spirit. As much as water is essential in all spheres of human life creation is that which completes the artist’s existence. All other motives are harmoniously networked into an entirety leaving space for the viewer to think out and experience them in a unique way.

By means of this unusual exhibition the artist takes us on a journey through a parallel universe, a world of imagination, subconscious illusions and emotional creativity, a world where dreams become reality. Let him catch us by the hand and tell us the story of the playful infinity of creation.
