How to Use Pythagorean Theorem
This is a right triangle.
We will find the ‘C’, or hypotenuse, of this right triangle, when only given ‘A’ and ‘B’.
A
B
C
So, in order to do this, we will use something called Pythagorean Theorem.
•Pythagorean Theorem uses the formula
A + 2
B2= C
2
This means that one leg of the triangle squared (or times itself) plus the other leg squared, equals the final leg, or the hypotenuse, squared.
Leg 1
Leg 2

is our equation.

23+ =?
2So,

3
3.5

23+ =?
2
2 = 42
23 = 9
4 + 9= 13
13 square rooted comes out as 3.5
So, 2

3+ =3.5

The third leg is 3.5
