On behalf of JK Angus, Healy Simmentals and Eichacker Simmentals we would like to thank you for your interest in our offering and invite you to the Dakota Made Female Sale. The Kapperman and Healy families have been long time friends of the Eichacker’s and their breeding programs are top notch, which is very evident in the bulls that are offered in the spring at their respective bull sales. It became a reality here at Eichacker Simmentals last spring that things never stay the same. As many of you may or may not have heard, our husband, dad and grandpa passed away on April 6. Many folks commented that they remembered visiting with Raphael at the bull sale the first week in March not knowing anything was wrong and was surprised to hear he passed away. Well, he didn’t know at the time either, but shortly after the bull sale, he was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer.

Dad loved farming and his cattle, but even more the friends and acquaintances he made in the purebred cattle business. Cattle people are truly a good breed and there didn’t seem to be anyone dad couldn’t strike up a conversation with. I have always said that no-one had an eye or the patience to heat check cattle like my dad did. His presence is definitely missed, as he was extremely active in the day to day activities right up to the end. As with any operation when you lose a main component, like dad, many decisions have to be made. The first was when mom said she didn’t want to learn how to run the tractor and feed wagon, and she certainly never acquired dad’s keen eye for heat detection, or telling which cow was going to calve 12 hours before they actually did. So a decision was made that dad and mom’s share of the cow herd was going to have to be sold. Dad spent most of his life building this herd of cows, he used the first unit of Simmental semen in 1970 and we have an ASA membership # of 4441. One time I heard the average purebred breeder is in the business for 7 years, so I guess you could say dad withstood the test of time. This set of females are backed by many generations of A.I. breeding as that was dad’s specialty, A.I.’ing. The ES mature cows in the offering were never exposed to a clean-up bull so are guaranteed A.I. bred to the sire listed. The ES bred heifers were exposed to a Sim/Angus bull only after an extensive A.I. program. I believe only one sale heifer was called bull bred. There is also a very select group of females carrying the services of the hottest club calves around. Give Paul a call to visit about the unique offering. One thing that is for sure is that these Shear Force daughters make excellent cows. She has an API of 157 that ranks her in the top 10% of the breed. She is safe to R & R Image, a Sharper Image son that we selected from the R & R bull sale last spring. His dam raised the Grand Champion Simmental Heifer at the North Central Regional show 2 years ago.
