Matt Plett - Plemark Holsteins, Blumenort, MB Generations: 1st generation Cows Milked: 64 HolsteinsBarn Setup: Tie-StallWe are a true first generation farm. Though both of us grew up as dairy farm kids, my family farm was sold when I was 12, and my family moved to the US. I always dreamt of farming again someday, and was fortunate that the farm my family had sold came up for sale in 2007. We bought it, renovated, found a herd of cows and started milking. In 2012, my wife’s brothers left their farm to pursue different careers, and the opportunity came to buy that farm, with a larger land base and more developed yard space.

So I decided to come home to discover and explore the role of a family farm in our broader food system.
