Generally, you know by looking at the end of the word. Some have to be
memorized, though.
To make a noun plural, just add –S to nouns that end in a vowel and –ES to nouns that end in a consonant!
Ex: mesas, conversaciones
All nouns are either masculine or feminine.
All nouns are either singular or plural.
Some nouns are masculine or feminine based on gende r (estudiante, turista, joven)
-a (palabra, chica)-dad (nacionalidad, comunidad)
-ción (lección, conversación)
- o (video, chico)-ma (programa, problema)
-s (país, autobús)
-or (conductor, profesor)
Exceptions: la mano, el mapa, el día

Also….if the last letter of the word is a ––––zzzz, change it to a ----cccc. If

When deciding which article to use, we have to…
1) Decide if the noun is masculine or feminine.
2) Decide if the noun is singular or plural.

vosotros. All other countries use
ustedes for both the formal and informal use of
“you all.”

In Spanish, the verbs are also conjugated. For ser, the conjugations are:
