• Webinar On ‘Dissemination of MH protocol and infection prevention in facilities’ amid

COVID-19 Pandemic - Himachal Pradesh (May 13, 2020)

Activity 1: Webinar On ‘Dissemination of MH protocol and infection

prevention in facilities’ amid COVID-19 Pandemic - Himachal Pradesh

Government of Himachal Pradesh in collaboration

with USAID Vriddhi Project conducted a webinar

on Dissemination of MH protocol and infection

prevention in facilities of HP Amid COVID-19

Pandemic. USAID Vriddhi team has technically

suported in planning as well as execution of the

webinar. This is in continuation to the key role

played by HP Vriddhi team in drafting the

‘Guideline for MH and Obstetric care in HP

during COVID 19 outbreak’ as one of the

members with SPO MH and Obstetrician from

IGMC/KNH Medical College, Shimla. The

guidelines are finally circulated by state govt as

circular by ‘Additional Chief Sec. Health’ with a

copy to IPEGLOBAL HP.

The webinar was conducted on 13th May 2020,

started at 12:00 noon and continued for

approximately 2 hrs. There were more than 131

logins in the webinar. Attendance of webinar was

collected through a Google sheet and a total of 179

participants marked attendance. Although the

participation was more than the marked attendance.

Out of the total 179 participants, 139 were clinical

Activity -2: Online orienation of service providers from DHH Cuttack,

Odisha on COVID-19 and infection control module of SDA

During this COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19 module of

the SDA is found to be helpful in creating awareness

among the service provider awareness regarding COVID-

19 prevention. In addition to other modules on safe

delivery practices, SDA also has a module on infection

control. As a part of the continuous online capacity

building exercises during the COVID-19 lockdown, the

State Vriddhi team in coordination with district NHM

team - Cuttack and health facility team organized an

online session on infection control and Safe Delivery

App for service providers working in DHH Cuttack on

May 11, 2020 using zoom platform.

Total 11 participants including ADM & PHO medical,

DMRCH Cuttack, Hospital Manager DHH, O&G

specialists and SNs from LR & OT attended the zoom

meeting. All the service providers were oriented on how

to use the Safe Delivery App and how to continue learning the key technical skills related to safe birthing

practices by using the learning modules.

The orientation on Safe Delivery App was primarily

focused on the COVID-19 and infection prevention

modules. VRIDDHI team members facilitated the

session by addressing various queries of service

providers on SDA learning modules. During the

session, the health facility team was also briefed on

infection control practices in maternity units

especially in labor room and maternity OT of the

facility. Guidelines pertaining to the cleaning of

medical equipment were also discussed in detail.

Service providers who had installed Safe Delivery

App earlier secured expert level in the COVID-19

module during the online session only. All the

participants were suggested to complete COVID-19 and infection control modules as soon as possible and share

the score cards. The participants were also oriented on appropriate use of PPE during COVID spread.
