Despite the pressure, asenior royal aide said of thePrince and Kate last night:They are very upbeat. Theyare very relaxed.

The royal party arrived in aconvoy of blacked-out cars, heightening the excitementof a growing throng of fanscamped in a mini tent city.

Inside the Abbey, officialswalked William and Katethrough where they mustbe at every moment of the

hour-long ceremony. The rehearsal involved theArchbishop of Canterbury,Dr Rowan Williams, who ismarrying the couple, theBishop of London, the RtRev Richard Chartres, whowill give the address, and theDean of Westminster, theVery Rev Dr John Hall, who isconducting the service.

Kate, 29, walked up thenave arm in arm with herfather and went through thevows with William, 28.

Earlier in the day, Kateappeared to let slip some ofher wedding vows or perhaps

a reading from the servicewhen she left her family homein Bucklebury, Berkshire.

A sheaf of paper visible inthe back seat of her carincluded phrases from anunknown work, leading tospeculation the couple mighthave written their own vows.

Many of the words wereobscured but one phrasestood out: With so muchlove within our hearts.

Yesterday was a day ofrehearsals. Up to a 1,000 mili-tary personnel who will formthe procession or line theroute took part in a pre-dawnrehearsal for the historic dis-play of pomp and pageantry.

    No need

for themIN 24 hours she maynever have to carry a boxagain. But for now, Katecan do without flunkies, thank you.

The bride-to-be,dressed casually injeans, right, was spottedarriving at ClarenceHouse yesterday forlast-minute weddingpreparations.

She was seenunloading a carton fromthe rear of her blue Audi, inset. Despite her royalstatus from tomorrow,Kate and William insistthey want to continueliving as a normal RAFcouple without servantsin their rented northWales farmhouse.

Kate, however, isbound to needsecretarial support inLondon for a mountainof correspondence fromwell-wishers.

THIS could be it the mosttalked about bridal gown of the21st Century.

Amid heightened security atthe hotel where the Middletonfamily will be based for the wed-ding, porters brought in bagscontaining carefully concealedgarments yesterday.

They arrived with MichaelMiddleton, 61, the brides father, who was not inclined to saywhether one of them containedhis daughters wedding dress.

He and his wife Carole, 56,have booked out all of the 71rooms at the 345-a-night Gor-ing Hotel, close to BuckinghamPalace, for their guests.

Inside the five-star hotel, thebrides lavish suite was filledwith white roses, eucharist liliesand freesias delivered in threecars by florist Jenny Tobin, whohas provided flowers for manyfilms including Love Actuallyand Sense And Sensibility.

Kate, however, is not expectedto check into the hotel until latertoday. She spent last night atClarence House after leaving herfamilys house at Bucklebury,Berks, for the last time as a singlewoman yesterday morning.

    Wearing a substitute for her

wedding dress, the 29-year-oldbride has been practising how tocurtsey for a tricky moment inher marriage ceremony when sheand Prince William will payobeisance to the Queen.

In one of the more difficultmanoeuvres for any royal bride, she will perform a full, formalcourt curtsey to the monarch, while William bows his head, justafter the couple have signed theregister.

Kate has been practising withthe help of Clarence House.

    My sub-

    a dream

    WHEN award-winningwildlife photographer Sue

Flood told her schoolcareers officer she wantedto make films with DavidAttenborough, Mrs

Brown smiled indulgently and told herto study domestic science instead.

I used to think of her when I saw mytelevision credits on Blue Planet, saysSue. In many ways you cant blame MrsBrown for her mistake. The womansitting across from me in a London caflooks as if shed be more at homebaking cakes in a cosy cottage thanstruggling through sub-zerotemperatures to photograph theworlds most inaccessible creatures.

Sue has nice fluffy hair, round, twinkling eyes and a smiley, unlinedface that makes her look younger thanher 45 years. Yet her mild exteriormasks a steely tenacity. When I firstlanded the job as researcher on BluePlanet in 1996 it was better thanwinning the lottery, she says.

It was my absolute dream. Now Imalways asked two questions: How doyou go to the toilet? and Is DavidAttenborough as nice as he looks?.The answers are, With difficulty andEven nicer.

Sue has a string of photographyawards under her belt and a beautifulcoffee table book of photographs calledCold Places.

So how does a country girl fromnorth Wales end up spending most ofher life at either of the Poles, riskingfrostbite and exposure to capturestunning images of frozen landscapesand the polar bears, penguins, seals, walruses and whales that live there?

Sue had never ventured abroadalone (apart from a school trip to Italy)until she left Durham University in1986 but her father entranced her withhis tales of exotic lands and adventuresas a merchant seaman.

Today she admits to being a travel

addict. Im bipolar, she jokes. Youcan usually find me at either the Northor South Pole. What attracts her tosuch harsh climates? I love theamazingly resourceful people who livethere, the incredible wildlife and thespectacular scenery.

Where else do you find an area thesize of France so dramatically beautifuland so empty? she asks, showing meher aerial photograph of tiny, ant-likepeople dwarfed by the majesty of theAntarctic Ross Ice Shelf.

Her photographs range fromimpossibly cute, cuddly baby penguinsto savage and bloodied polar bearsafter a kill. Sue loves the breadth andextremes of nature and celebrates thefact she can photograph the samepolar bear out on the kill one day andaffectionately nuzzling its cub the nextand shes prepared to go to daredevillengths to capture her shots. The boy wh

grew up tobe a motheIDIDNT just hate dolls anddresses. I didnt just love mudand bows and arrows. I didntjust want to be a boy, I was aboy: one called Edward. Itwas always part of me, like

having slightly red hair and freckles. The proudest moment of my

early years came when a teacher ona cricket course lectured me on thedangers of not wearing a box. I toldhim I didnt have any testicles. Hetold me not to talk rubbish.

There were other triumphs suchas sauntering into the gents whenthere was a queue for the ladies, winning special dispensation atprimary school to wear a blazerrather than a cape and casting myhandsome little brother as the uglysister while I was Prince Charming.

My mother, of good feministstock, says she was delighted tohave escaped the plague of MyLittle Ponies that swept the UKin the early Eighties and my father

was pleasantly surprised to havea daughter who thought catchingand gutting fish was the best funever, especially if you landed agarfish, a mini swordfish that hadbright green blood.

They did, however, often havesome rather tricky explaining todo. A few months into primaryschool one of my first friends toldhis mother that he only wantedboys at his fifth birthday party.

No problem, she said, who doyou want to ask? He reeled off a list

    of Simons, Stuarts and one

Margaret. Um, said his mother, isnt Margaret a little girl? No, heinsisted, Margarets a boy. Cue onevery confused phone call to ourhouse that evening.

Yet the glory days ended agedseven when I went to an all-girlsboarding school and blunderedinto a weird new world of stickerswapping, skipping ropes anddancing to Top Of The Pops.

I begged for special dispensationagain. Please, please, could I justbe allowed to sit quietly by myselfin the library? I was much happierreading Willard Price adventurestories than figuring out the rulesto girl world.

    L

UCKILY for me a newheadmaster arrived, an

eccentric who often forgothe was no longer head of a boysprep school. He called us by oursurnames, despised wetness andobsessed about cricket.

The older children used to watchTV with him and his wife onSaturday nights but one week hedeclared hed had enough of BlindDate and Miss Marple. We were allgoing to watch his favourite videoinstead as it would be good for us.What was it? Bothams Ashes.

He even dreamed up a brilliantnew after-tea activity calledPirates. It involved the entireschool chasing each other over allthe gym equipment in a wayguaranteed to give any Ofstedinspector a seizure. It wasdangerous and it always ended intears. Of course I loved it.

I was excited about mysecondary school. For one it was

mixed. For another it was close toLondon which to me meant aninfinite number of McDonaldsmeals and the Royal Tournament.Yet the reality came as a massiveshock.

While Id been playing chess andrunning the tuck shop, girls andboys in the South-east had becometeenagers. Cool teenagers.

On my first night the girls in myroom were talking about whotheyd got off with that summer.

I had no idea what that meantbut I knew Id never come evenclose. They cleansed, toned andmoisturised while I had nothing

but a toothbrush. I still wore boyspyjamas and read Tolkien-stylefantasy novels. I knew I was introuble.

Two years later I had undergonea transformation so dramatic thata girl from home whod known mesince our first day at nursery didntrecognise me when I turned up ather 15th birthday party.

Was it puberty that steered metowards floppy hair, teeny-tinyskirts and silly platforms? Partly.

Yet I dont like to put it all downto hormones. Id always been a bitcompetitive and it must havedawned on me that boys and

parties and cider were timportant game in towwork out how to play.

Later, much later, I emarried (no long white ring, no make-up, I didnthat much) and got pre

    A word

    of advice

for KateWhats the secret to a happy wedding?

    Our experts share their thoughts

sychologist Dr PAM SPURRemember the three Rs: respect, sponsibility and romance. You must have respect for

ourself within the marriagehich will make you more awareyour partner.Take responsibility for your

hare of the relationship. Its awo-way street and you both have

make the time to nurture it.Most importantly, never forgete romance because if you

ecome too comfortable that canasily turn into neglect.

oyal expert JENNIE BONDsten to what the Duke ofdinburgh, Williams grandfather,id when he and the Queen werelebrating their diamond

edding anniversary in 2007.He noted the main lesson they

ad learned was that toleranceas the one essential ingredientany happy marriage. It may

ot be quite so important whenings are going well, he said.

However it is absolutely vitalhen the going gets difficult. Youan take it from me that theueen has the quality oflerance in abundance. If William and Catherine canllow that example and also

how kindness to one another, eyll have the foundation forstrong and happy marriage.

    ate Middleton lookalike

ATE BEVANaving just recently got marriedyself my advice would be to

make sure that you laugh a lottogether. Also, dont forget tocount your blessings every dayand never let the sun set onan argument.

Relationship expert andauthor SUSAN QUILLIAMMake sure you and William havethe same idea of what marriage

involves because however longyou have been together things willshift. You are not only marrying

William but a family and a role. Asyour circumstances continue tochange, such as becoming amother or William becoming King, check with him what he expectsof you, as yours, his and thecountrys expectations will evolve.Keeping the intimacy is also vitalto your happiness.

Life coach FIONA HARROLDYou must carve out boundariesand a role you are comfortable

with or else you could be sweptaway on a tide of other peoplesexpectations and demands.

You need to know you can sayno and must make it clear toWilliam what you are and are notprepared to do, whether that beroyal engagements or the numberof charities you take on.

Daily Express astrologerLORI REIDStay true to your nature, Kate.Being a Capricorn you have thepotential to gravitate to the top

of any profession.Born on June 21, William is

technically a Gemini but as he ison the cusp I view him more as aCancerian like his motherPrincess Diana.

Your moon is in Cancer so youand William talk the samelanguage.

You are very similar so it is amarriage made in heaven and youshouldnt try to change yourself.William will make the effort toease you into royal life.

You need to keep strong tieswith your family.

The moon is in Pisces tomorrowshowing that you are set for afairytale wedding.

One word of caution I will giveyou is to take the time to say yourvows again with a select fewguests or even just the two of youto cement fully your union.

    Im thrilledwith mynew nose

How to fight ageingDr AAMER KHAN is a qualified GP and one of the UKs leadingauthorities on cosmetic and non-surgical procedures. His wife

LESLEY REYNOLDS KHAN is a skincare andbeauty expert. They have worked together

for a decade treating thousands of patientsin their Harley Street clinic and are here to

give you impartial advice about turningback the clock

NEW PROFILE: Taras old surgery wore out and she needed a new look for to

    ASK THE KHANS

FOR Tara Palmer-Tomkinson,just a glimpse of herreflection was enough toundermine her confidence. In 2006 the socialite paid6,000 to have her nose,

amaged after years of drug abuse, built using cartilage from her ear. However the original surgery hadorn out leaving her nose looking

quashed and bent.Last week she visited our Harley

treet Skin Clinic asking for help.ather than have reconstructive

urgery we suggested Tara tryon-surgical nose reshaping, aocedure that involves injecting

osmetic filler into misshapen orunken areas. As she wanted her new nose in

me for the royal wedding, this wase perfect solution. After a topical anaesthetic was

pplied, two injections were usedplump out her nose in a matter of

inutes. The results were instant and thereas an immediate major

mprovement in the overall shape.ara was thrilled with the results. There was no bruising or swelling,

o recovery time and her new nosell retain its shape for between

x months and a year when she canen review her options to have

urgery to correct it permanently orontinue with injectables. After her treatment Tara told us:

The criticism made me so unhappy.ith my old nose Id look in theirror and feel self-conscious butis has changed the way I feel

bout myself. Im much happier andore self-confident. Im thrilled with

e results.A non-surgical procedure is anternative to rhinoplasty (nose

urgery) and can help those who arenhappy with the shape rather thane size of their nose. It is also aeat way to try out a new look

efore having surgery.Clever use of injectables can helpstraighten out a crooked noseplump out a flat one to give a moreominent contour as well as to

balance out the shape. It can also beused to lift the tip so it looks uprather than down.

It is a fast, painless procedure andcheaper than surgery.

Surgery can cost up to 5,000while injectables cost between300 and 650 depending on theamount used.

We used the hyaluronic acid fillerTeosyal in Taras nose. This gel-likesubstance is found naturally in thebodys connective tissues and itbreaks down gradually over a periodof up to a year.

However, it is important toremember injectables cannot fix allnasal problems so there will alwaysbe the need for surgery.

    About 3,000 people have

rhinoplasty each year and the mostcommon reasons are for a nose thatis crooked, too large or too wide orhas a bump on the bridge.

    A

LSO, as we age thesupportive structure ofthe nose can weaken and

change the shape and position so itcan appear much longer, with the tipdrooping or even becoming thickerand wider in proportion to sunkencheeks.

Surgery is performed under ageneral anaesthetic and can take upto three hours.

Usually a splint will be applied fora week and the nose may also bepacked with gauze, which isremoved after a couple of days. Results are permanent.

IF YOU live a five-starlifestyle you want afive-star wedding tomatch. My clients eat inthe finest restaurants, stayin world-class hotels and

fly on private jets so the bar for aspecial celebration issignificantly raised.

They will often spend in excessof 100,000 on their wedding.People assume they must be

incredibly spoilt or dontunderstand the value of moneybut thats not the case. In myexperience, you dont becomewealthy without appreciating it.

I have worked in the weddingplanning business for more than20 years and every client wantstheir event to be more fabulousthan the last one they attended. This is where the real challengelies for me.

One father said he wanted hisdaughter to have the bestwedding in the world andwhatever amount Id spent on mymost expensive event, I was toadd another 500,000 to ensurehis daughters was superior.

This wedding is set for nextyear and I hope hes not watchingtomorrow. I cant close The Mall, get a full Household Cavalryescort, hire the Queens Ascot

Landau horse-drawn carriage orthe London Chamber Orchestraat short notice. I also doubt Icould hire the fanfare team fromthe Central Band of the RAF togreet his daughter atWestminster Abbey. I can, however, organise 10,000canaps, rent a palace andemulate Kates wedding dress.

I am wholeheartedly committedto every wedding I do, whateverthe budget. However, no matterhow big the price tag and thelevel of organisation and thereare weddings costing severalmillion pounds on my books the day itself is never uneventful.

In the past two decades Ivehad to deal with a whole rangeof incidents from locating amisplaced bride to retrievingdiamonds from a muddy pond.

On one occasion the bride got

so over-excited on her weddingmorning that when the registrarspoke to her she projectilevomited everywhere. Luckily thevenue co-ordinator realised whatwas about to happen andmanaged to shield the bridesdress with her jacket.

Then there was the time agroom sent for me halfwaythrough the wedding breakfast. He declared he had not prepareda speech and asked me to writeone for him. I scribbled down theusual format of bullet pointsnoting who to thank and somewords for the toast. Rather thanadding to it, the groom read itjust as it was written and thedelivery left a lot to be desired. The bride was not impressed.

Ive had to arrange forhelicopters to be refurbished atthe last moment, have fresh crab

and chilled champagne waitingaboard private jets and Iveordered wedding favours such asTiffany pens and keyrings orengraved iPods complete withready-downloaded weddingplaylists for every guest.

Ive facilitated diamondpurchases that cost more thanthe weddings, collected gownsthat cost more than most peopleearn in a lifetime and managedeye-watering budgets but abride-to-be is a bride-to-be

whether marrying a prince or apauper. The passion is the same.

    W

ILLIAM and Katesbig day will, ofcourse, be incredible

on every level. There will be 2,000guests in Westminster Abbey and650 will go on to BuckinghamPalace for the canap reception.

In the evening the 300 closestwill stay for dinner. Thats the bityou or I would consider ourproper wedding reception.

Even though the venue isBuckingham Palace, guests willsee the same touches from otherhigh-end events. For instance, allthe crockery, linen, tablewareand glasses will be set out on thetables using little blocks so the

spacing is even betweplacing, just as I woulevents. People keep awhat the royal weddiand Id say given the event, not much at al

Buckingham Palachas the infrastructureare no hire, transportstaff hire costs. Apartflowers, food and the attire, which will havealmost certainly purccost, theres not mucbest way of explaininyou cant buy an expethe royal wedding. Thmagic and mystique owhich makes it utterl

Working with couplfamilies so closely mereally get to know theand all. There are all k

stories I could tell youclients behave in the their big days, wheththe fabulously rich (awho pretend to be), taristocracy, celebritiemotherless brides-to-hard-working City folme because theyre juto manage the preparalone.

At a time when emhighly charged, expecalmost unmanageablcracks in family relatiwill deepen. To kiss awould be a betrayal arelationship with my sacred. Whats said towedding planner staywedding planner.

njoy this tribute to the remarkablereer of Sir Bobby Charlton (rightntre, with Alan Ball and Bobbyoore), a key member of the Englandam that won the World Cup in 1966d a Manchester United squaduched by success and tragedy inual measure. Charlton survived theunich air disaster in 1958 that killedveral of his team-mates, dubbede Busby Babes. Renowned fors attacking instincts, he is still thecord goalscorer for England andanchester United and received aighthood in 1994. Contributions fromme of footballs biggest names, suchDavid Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson,

r Geoff Hurst and Bobbys brotherck Charlton, loom large.

If you thought all thebetrothal excitement thisweek is at WestminsterAbbey, think again. Channel4 viewers will have front rowseats to celebrate a big fatroyal gypsy wedding. Somepeople may live in palacesand others in caravans butregardless of wealth or title, everyone wants their ownwedding day to be perfect. For this wedding can thedresses get any bigger orthe cake any higher? Moreimportant, will one Irishtraveller bride (left) andgroom have the perfectwedding of their dreams?

When businessman, journalist, chickenbreeder and fan of all things technologicalL Frank Baum wrote The Wizard Of Oz in1900 he had no idea what he had begun. Hisambition to create the first American fairytale(above) was successful beyond measure.

Gloom descends on theGoonies gang when acorrupt developer buysup their neighbourhoodand announces plans toflatten all the properties. When the pals comeacross a treasure map(right), hopes run highof raising a fortune tobuy back the doomedhomes. Cue a rollickingride aboard pirateships and throughunderground passages.Fun for all the family.

Its 1961 and Joan is still keeping the Trotter fortunesafloat, as the late John Sull ivans comedy about theearly lives of the Trotter family returns for a one-offspecial. Joan has two jobs, one at the Ritz cinemaand the other as wrong un Freddie Robdals charlady, while Del (James Buckley, above) romances half thegirls in Peckham. Meanwhile, Det Insp Thomas iskeen to make an arrest for the Margate gems heist.
