HC asks Govt to file status report inmedico-pharma nexus

Court today directed theGovernment through itsAdditional Advocate General tofile status report in PublicInterest Litigation stating that anumber of doctors were takingbribes from a particular micro-lab.

A Division Bench of HighCourt comprising JusticeMuzaffar Hussain Attar andJustice Ali Mohammad Magraywas hearing a PIL which statedthat few Government doctorswere in nexus with a pharmacompany and have been offeredfreebies, bribes, kickbacks fromMicro Lab Limited to prescribeits medicine in violation ofMedical Council of India Rules.

The petitioners have prayedbefore the court that the assets ofthese doctors be ascertained, atask force be constituted to lookinto such offences and compa-nies which are offering suchincentives be blacklisted.

"Such transactions by thedoctors are at the cost of patient

care, the substandard drugs sur-facing in the market have defi-nitely a link with these mal-practicing doctors causing dam-age to the health of public atlarge," the PIL stated.

After hearing CPO SanjayKohli with Senior PORajeshwar Basotra for the State,CJM observed, “the culpabledishonest intention of theaccused in the facts and circum-stances of the case right at thebeginning can be presumed inas much as a person knowingthat he was no lawful authoritysitting in India making a repre-sentation to a person that hewould settle him in foreigncountry”.

“It is a case where a rela-tive duped his close relativewho borrowed money from hisrelative and friends for employ-ment in foreign country”, thecourt said while awarding threeyears RI to cheater.

Restoration of 33 KV powertransmission line demanded

Development Forum District,Kishtwar has appealed the ChiefMinister Omar Abdullah forrestoring the 33 KV power trans-mission line at Paddar at the earli-est.

In a statement issued, ThakurKartar Singh Rathore, NC leaderand Chairman PahariDevelopment Forum, district,Kishtwar said that power trans-mission line may be immediatelyrepaired on war footing.

He further said that grid sta-tion has been inaugurated sincelast 10 years but has not beenmade functional.

He has appealed theGovernment for necessary stepsfor smooth functioning of power.
