We are also on a tight budget at school and accounts not paid have to be paid by the school, which impacts on what we can spend on the children. The town bus viability could also be threatened if the school has to regularly cover costs of non payment. Some parents have set up an automatic payment to go in each week / fortnight so that the amount doesn’t build up too high. You will notice that a school donation of either $50 for one child or $75 for more than one is added to your account. This is a donation and is not compulsory. The school donation money gathered is used to cover things like – bus hire to sports / activity days, hiring cultural performances etc. and it saves having to ask regularly for small amounts of money.

Where are we heading with Technology?

Last year as part of staff professional development Diarmuid, Jude, Wendy and

Helen visited schools in Nelson to look at their school programmes and also check

out what they were doing with technology.

All staff come back invigorated by the visit and also with ideas of what would work

well in their classrooms.

The Board of Trustees has put aside funds to start implementing a technology plan

for the school.

Jodie and I will soon be visiting selected Nelson schools specifically looking at their

use of technology. Once back from the visit we will be working with staff to set out

a technology plan for our school, which will be presented to the Board.

Riding Success - Hannah B

At the weekend me and two other riders entered in a dressage competition. It was a competition for all the Pony Clubs in the top of the South and 14 teams entered. Our team was Golden Bay Pony Club. The two other people in the team were Frances and Trinity. The other person on our team was Anna but she had to pull out because her pony went lame the day before. Each team had two senior riders who were over 15 and two junior riders. I was the youngest rider in the competition. The top three scores in each team counted. But we only had two juniors and one senior so we were really pleased that our team came 8th overall. I rode my amazing chestnut, River, a 13.2h Welsh cross Kaimanawa gelding, who was perfect on the day, even though I have only had him 3 months and he is really young and inexperienced. We were all happy with our two dressage tests. Even though we didn't win anything we still had loads of fun and we hope to be entering in further competitions for Golden Bay. By Hannah

Transport Payment It was brought to my attention last week that those

parents who transported groups of children to the Kids for

Kids concert and to the Nelson Interschool's hockey

tournament last term haven’t been reimbursed. I apologise

for this and we are in the process of sorting payment. I

appreciate being informed as it was an oversight.

School Working Bee

We would like to hold a school working bee on Saturday 13th September to tidy up a bit around the school. Time 9.30 – 11.30 or what ever time you can spare. We will finish with a sausage sizzle.

Friday 12th September 5.30 – 7pm at the Motupipi Hall For safety sake, please no entry before 5.30pm, as there may not be adequate supervision until then

$2 entry – yummy food available to buy. Parents: Any help of baking (think party food – savory or sweet – whatever’s your specialty) would be much appreciated. Please ph. Sharon 525 8255 or txt 0275 258255. No theme – just come along in your favourite disco gear!

Miniball Results and Comments In the Year 3 and 4 grade:

Motupipi Minecraft played the Takaka Breakers and lost 18-12

Motupipi Magic played the Takaka Superstars and drew 16-16

In the Year 5 and 6 grade:

Motupipi Mountain Lions played the Motupipi Scary Scottish Scorpions and drew 16-16

Motupipi GB Giants played the Takaka Silver Sheep and lost 14-16

We had a hard and tense game against the Mountain Lions. We had to step it up a notch as they were good. Our intercepting was a lot better and we got the ball off them quite a lot. We drew 16-16. Tarn There were lots of fouls in our game and the ref stopped the game a few times. Our passing and marking has improved. Luka We tied 16 -16. Both teams passed well and shared the ball around. It was a fast game. Rhianne We used our team really well. I got a goal which was my 3rd for the year… They were really hard as they were so tall they were good at blocking. Will I got four goals and it is the most goals I’ve got in a game. I shot a few from way out and I didn’t expect them to go in. Grandma and Grandad were proud of me. Fabien More people passed to me today. I had three shots at goals and missed them. I need a bit of practice. Noah

Please note there is an error on the draw next week and Motupipi Magic (Year 3/4) play at 4.15
