GREEN BUSINESS AND REGIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH
7th WTA DAEJEON HI-TECH FAIR06 OVERVIEW
Theme Green Business and Regional Economic Growth
In an industry where technology is constantly changing at a rapid rate, it becomes more challenging to stay intune with the latest technology. As hi-tech industry leaders, it is vital that we share our ideas with one another. Animportant purpose of the technology convergence is to emphasize technology and the potential for technologytransfer. This will contribute to a collaborative research in the application of the latest technologies in IT, BT, NT,ET, etc. with the objective of commercialization.
Recently, many countries and science cities have heightened interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy resources.
Realizing an innovation-based ‘green economy and business’ will enhance regional development and create a new
industry for job growth. Greening the economy refers to the process of reconfiguring businesses andinfrastructure to deliver better returns on natural, human and economic capital investments, while at the sametime reducing greenhouse gas emissions, dependence on natural resources, waste, and social disparity gap. So,the ‘Green Economy’ is to assist the countries and cities in ‘greening’ their economy. Within this framework, weshould share information and knowledge among innovation players in WTA member cities to cope with newmarket challenges and technological change, as well as to create regional innovation in the era of global climatechange.

Many countries and cities have heightened interest in energyefficiency, renewable energy resources, and environmentalconservation. Realizing an innovation-based ‘green economy’will help curb greenhouse gas emissions, improve energysecurity, and create a new industry for job growth. Recognizingthe impact of climate change caused by local businesses, we selected the green technology and business ideology forenvironment management as a special agenda for science cities. Within this framework, the main aim of the conference isto promote knowledge exchange on current issues and problems being faced and to focus on the role of science cities forthe green growth so as to tackle climate change. The conference will take place on Tuesday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Chungnam National University in Daejeon,Korea. This conference is open to anyone interested in green growth.
