    051-62G-D02 Drill Bore Holes (TE1)

    Action: Drill bore holes.

Conditions: At a training site, given a 750 CFM air compressor, a rock drilling site,a blast design, TM 5-331C, TM 5-3820-239-15,TM 5-3820-241-12, TM 5-4310-451-14, LO 5-3820-241-12, a generalmechanic's tool kit, a shovel, a crowbar, a grease gun, rock drillingequipment, petroleum, oil, lubricants (POL), rags, appropriatemaintenance forms, an equipment records folder, a pre-fitted OSHAand MSHA approved respirator with a HEPA filter, coveralls, safety

boots, goggles, gloves, double hearing protection, a hard hat, and apencil

Standards: Perform operators PMCS, maneuver a rock drill, and drill bore holesin accordance with (IAW) the blast design to within 6 of the depthand to within 2 of hole placement, TM 5-331C, TM 5-3820-239-15,TM 5-3820-241-12, TM 5-4310-451-14, and LO 5-3820-241-12,without damage to equipment or the environment and without injury topersonnel. Achieve a GO on a performance evaluation.

    SafetyRequirements

Hard hats must be worn at all times. Hearing protection must be worn whileequipment is running. Eye protection, gloves and proper foot protection must beworn when operating equipment. Use three points of contact when mounting ordismounting equipment. Remove all jewelry. Use caution around moving parts.

    RiskAssessmentLevel

    Medium

    EnvironmentalConsiderations

Avoid unnecessary stripping and damage to vegetation and waterways. Control dustconditions and limit water erosion by dressing area at the end of each day. Avoidunnecessary equipment usage and follow established procedures for cleanup of fluidleaks. Restore site and surrounding areas as close as possible to the originalecological condition.
