skills/physical sections, (ie the one they choose to do for 6months)

Pupils will come to us period 6 each Friday and during this time we will trainthem in all aspects of navigation, camp craft, safety and emergency so they

are able to safely participate in the expeditions. This will involve some

training out of school hours which is compulsory. This is the minimum

requirement from D of E in order that they will approve our pupils to take part

in the Assessed Expedition. Confirmed dates of this training will be given to

pupils that choose to participate in the scheme once they have enrolled in

September. Please note that there is an enrollment fee of 15 from the Duke

of Edinburgh office and this will be added to your school fees. Other fees for

the out of hours training are shown in the brief outline below.

however it is up to your child to organise each section, and though we docheck how they are doing with the other sections over the year, the purpose

of the Duke of Edinburgh Award is that it encourages children to organise

and motivate themselves whilst participating in new activities. In order to

help your child to choose activities for each section we recommend that you

look at the Duke of Edinburgh website (address at the bottom of this letter),

    filled with very useful information.
