PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

Because of an unusually busy Advent and Christmas season at Good Sam, we have opted not to have a Burning of the Greens party this year. So, after the 11:00 AM service on January 7, we could use some help taking down the Christmas tree and other greenery from around the church. Thank you!

Hey Youth - are you already dreaming of summer camp, but it’s late December? Then Winter Camp is for you! If you have been to camp at Grace Point before, you know how meaningful and fun it is. And if you haven't been, now is the perfect time to check it out! Space is filling quickly, so hurry and register! 9-12th graders: Jan. 12-15; 6-8th graders: Feb. 2-4. If you need a scholarship, don't hesitate to ask. Register here: http://gracepoint.dioet.org/Camps/winter-sessions-2018.html. Questions? Contact Sinead at [email protected] .

Our Adult Christmas Formation Classes have been on hiatus for a bit, but will be resuming soon! Check out the start schedule here: Women’s Bible Study: Tuesday, January 2 at 5:45 PM (we’ll be studying Ephesians); Kerygma: Wednesday, January 3 at 7 PM; Men’s Bible Study: Tuesday, January 9 at 6 PM; All Sunday School Classes resume on January 14 at 9:45 AM.

On Sunday, January 14 at 9:45 AM, we will begin a new Adult Sunday School class. “Flourishing: Living into God's Call Every Day” will be lay led by Christie Dietz and Kate Flynn. This 8-week course will be an exploratory adventure on how we can grow spiritually by taking care of ourselves in our every day journey. For more information, check out the December & January LOGOS.

Good Samaritans are invited to join others from around the Diocese in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Memorial March Parade on Monday, January 15. As in past years, Episcopalians will gather at St. Luke’s Church, 600 South Chestnut Street, at 8 AM for breakfast and assembly. The March begins at 10 AM. The Parade route will stretch from Chilhowee Park – Midway Entrance on N. Beaman Street to Harriet Tubman Street. Contact Fr. Jim at [email protected] if you have questions.

The much-anticipated Annual Chili Cook-off is set for Sunday, January 28 at 6:00 pm! We’ll need creative folks to enter their best chili recipes and we’ll need brave folks willing to judge their creative culinary creations! The signup sheets will be in Henslee Hall next Sunday, January 7. Look for more information in the January LOGOS.

The Weekly Cash from the Plate Offering

The cash plate this week will go to The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley. The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley (HSTV) is no-kill rescue and adoption facility located in Knoxville. HSTV is committed to its relationships with other shelters in the region, primarily by transferring some of their at-risk animals for adoption. HSTV believes that euthanasia is not the solution just because of lack of shelter space. The Humane Society of The Tennessee Valley offers a low cost spay/neuter/vaccination clinic, dog training, educational services and volunteer programs thanks to support of donations like today’s cash in the plate offering.

Last week’s offering of $1,575 has been designated for Remote Area Medical.

Thank you for your generosity.
