ENGINEERS WHO DELIVER

VTK is formed by the merger of Kennemer Lucht-

behandeling, Engineering company Van Tongeren and

Spaans bulk handling systems. We have a strong

engineering basis to tailor the systems and components

to the client’s requirements, such as:

• drying and cooling

• combustion air

• dust collection

• bulk handling and transport

• Air/gas handling and cleaning.

Engineers who deliver systems and components

VTK designs and manufactures a wide range

of products:

• Fans and blowers

• Disintegrators and feeders

• Cyclones

• Screw presses

• Screw conveyors

• (Flap) valves

• Mixers

• Dampers

• Bag Filters

• Turnkey drying and cooling systems

Engineers who deliver a reliable process

With our extensive knowledge of the day to day operati-

onal challenges, we are able to deliver a reliable, stable

and energy ef cient process for our clients, requiring

minimal attention from the operators and ensuring maxi-

mum output of the installation.

Engineers who deliver continuous support

Although a lot of the equipment we delivered is already

in operation for several decades, you can still call on us

for spare parts, maintenance and repair. VTK can offer

the revamping of complete systems, the repair of equip-

ment including other brands, up to complete preventive

maintenance programmes.

CYCLONES & FILTERS

In 1927 van Tongeren introduced a greatly improved type of cyclone far

superior in ef ciency to the generally available designs at that time.

Many current designs throughout the world are freely based

on the original Van Tongeren concept.

From blacksmith in 1893

to international

supplier today, VTK offers

a wide range of standard

and tailormade high ef -

ciency fans and blowers.

The high quality and

reliable fans have made

VTK become a preferred

vendor for many

customers in

various industries.

INDUSTRIAL FANS & BLOWERS

To keep our customers

processes running

perfectly VTK offers

a complete range of

services like inspection,

maintenance, repair,

mounting, site supervision

and commissioning.

Our highly skilled

and experienced

personnel will be of

service to maintain our

products but also

products delivered

by third parties.

MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

VTK acquired the

company Spaans Bulk

Handling systems in

2004. Spaans has been

delivering screw

conveyors and other

related bulk handling

equipment since

1898. The Spaans

product portfolio

complements the VTK

products perfectly,

offering our

customers a broader

range of solutions.

ABOUT VTK.In 1927, Van Tongeren started in the Netherlands,

introducing a greatly improved type of cyclone that was

far superior in ef ciency to the designs generally

available at that time.

Throughout the years VTK has continued to improve on

the design and applicability of our cyclones where today

we often can even meet the stringent emission levels.

Over the years, the industrial world acknowledged

Van Tongeren technology as a leading authority on

cyclone design.

Today, many current designs are freely based on

the original Van Tongeren concept.

In 2017, Van Tongeren Kennemer B.V. changed its

trade name to VTK.

VTK CYCLONES.A cyclone is a piece of equipment, invented more than a hundred

years ago, which induces a cyclone effect in order to separate

two types of media by centrifugal forces.

Cyclones can be classi ed, based on the nature of the media to

be separated :

• Gas and dust

• Gas and liquid droplets

• Liquid and solid particles (i.e. sand from water)

• Liquid and air bubbles

• Two different types of uids

The last three types are called “hydro-cyclones”

Van Tongeren Kennemer delivers cyclones primarily for

separating solids from gas type media. The following

applications can be identi ed :

• Gas cleaning,

• Product recovery,

• Physical processes and/or chemical reactions.

OUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE

FOOD & FEED

• Corn • Starch

• Wheat • Protein

• Soy • Fibers

• Potato • Flour

• Cassava/Tapioca • Sugar

• Sugar Beets

SOME OF OUR CLIENTS

PETRO-CHEMICAL

• Oil re nery

• Plastics & Polymers

• Fertilizer

• Carbon

• Hydro Carbons

• Boilers and Heaters

OTHER MARKETS

• Steel plants

• Pulp & Paper

• Cement

• Power Generation

• Waste to Energy

• Dairy

• Beer

QUALITY ASSURANCEThe VTK work ow management system,

in combination with ISO 9001 : 2008

and the Netherlands VCA** safety system

ensures a high standard for all project

phases from engineering up to and

including commissioning, start-up and

maintenance.

DESIGN VARIABLESVan Tongeren cyclones are designed according client speci cations, based on

the product, volume ow, required ef ciency and available pressure drop.

We can offer our clients a wide range of of possibilities:

• Standard AC cyclones

with tangential inlet, available in six ef ciency types.

• Standard AA cylones

with axial inlet available in two ef ciency types. The AA cyclones have a

standard diameter and depending on the gas ow a certain amount of AA

cyclones are arranged in one unit, the so called multi-cyclone unit.

• Cyclone battery

of several parallel arranged AC cyclones

• Multiple stage cyclone battery

of several serial arranged AC cyclones.

The gas which transports the particles to the

cyclone is blown into the top part of the cyclone,

where the gas is directed tangentially, the linear

entry direction is converted to a rotating motion.

The gas ows downwards in a spiral movement

(vortex ow), moving the solid particles outward

by centrifugal forces.

As soon as the particles touch the cyclone inner

wall, they are slowed down by friction, are separa-

ted from the gas and will slide down in a slow

moving spiral to the particle outlet on the bottom.

The particles leave the cyclone at the bottom by a

gas tight dust discharge device, like a rotary valve

or a double ap valve.

Since the cyclone bottom end is closed gas tight,

the gas is forced to ow back up. This upper ow

also has a spiral motion and is called the upper

vortex.

The gas leaves the cyclone through the vortex

 nder at the top.

CYCLONE PRINCIPLE

OPTIONS• Food grade execution, for example polishing,

CIP provisions, special hatches, food grade

materials, etc.

• ATEX execution, suitable for zone 0, 1, 2, 20,

21, 22. Including provisions for explosion

protection like bursting panels, supression

system, reinforcements, etc.

• High temperature execution up to 900°C.

• High pressure execution up to 40 barg (PED).

• Wear resistant execution, for example wear

resistant steel, hardfacing, concrete lining etc.

• Heat tracing with steam, water or electricity.

• Jacket (double wall) for heating or cooling.

• Insulation.

• Dust discharge devices like screw conveyors,

rotary valves, etc.
