In the survey-level analysis on the following page, we have included an Importance-Performance (IP) analysis. The IP map shows performance scores (Top Box Scores) along the x-axis and importance scores along the y-axis. IP maps are also known as grid plots or quad (quadrant) plots. We calculated the importance scores by using a class of statistical techniques called Key Driver Analysis (KDA), explained further in the appendix.
Please note that the importance measured is different from the stated importance that is used to collect feedback from the respondent. The difference between derived importance and stated importance is explained in the appendix.
Importance-Performance analysis is a method commonly used to measure employee satisfaction. Using this type of analysis, we can better interpret the relationship between the importance of certain parameters (“importance”) and judgments about how the company is currently performing in these areas (“performance”).
While importance and performance scores do yield valuable information independently, the relationship between the two factors is much more important to consider when thinking about which areas OrangeCorp should focus on in order to improve employee satisfaction in the future.
For example, those parameters (questions) which fall closest to the focus area (“concentrate here” in the image to the left) are the ones that should be targeted first for improvement, since they are low in performance and high in importance for the company. Alternatively, the questions which fall near the “keep up the good work” area are the ones which already have high performance (Top Box Scores). These questions are also high in importance, meaning they impact people’s satisfaction levels considerably.
