2011- 2015 CATERPILLAR REMAN (PERKINS ENGINES LIMITED), SHREWSBURY.(53 Months) PURCHASE SPECIALIST (CONTRACT0R)

The position covers responsibility for commercial activities covering castings * machining * gears on new & re-manufactured engine / transmission build. Maintaining a strong supplier base, through development, control and long term supply programmes. Representing the Purchase Team at regular internal reviews at various levels. CAT adopted / developed practices such as 6 Sigma, QCLDM, KPI’s are all utilised.

2010- 2010 JCB TRANSMISSIONS, WREXHAM.(4 Months) GROUP BUYER (CONTRACTOR)

Managing 7 projects pertaining to the resourcing of castings and gears from European sources to India. Regular liaison with the India manufacturers. Stage by stage control, from initial samples through to SOP.

2004- 2005 STADCO LIMITED, SHREWSBURY.(10 Months) GROUP COMMODITY BUYER (CONTRACTOR)

The position covered the joint responsibility for all commercial activities across 5 sites with production parts. I had major involvement with rationalisation and make v buy projects, giving strength and breadth, building up a quality supplier base supporting all sites.

2002-2004 BENTLEY MOTORS LIMITED, CREWE.(26 Months) SENIOR BUYER – PROTOTYPE / PRODUCTION / SPARES (CONTRACTOR).

I worked in these 3 areas during my period at Bentley, with responsibilities for all Commercial issues pertaining to project procurement (total car), current production model parts over various commodity areas, and new product introduction within the Spares Department. Covering supplier selection and development, implementing cost down programmes, technical and performance reviews. Inter-departmental liaison at all levels and report writing as necessary.

2001-2002 TRW AEROSPACE LIMITED, BIRMINGHAM.(6 Months) PROJECT SOURCING AGENT (CONTRACTOR).

Project based work covering the procurement of all components relating to fighter aircraft fuel systems. Position covers full commercial involvement from early concept stage, through supplier selection, to SOP. Close liaison with Design and other areas of Commercial activities.

2000-2001 LOTUS CARS LIMITED, COVENTRY.(16 Months) SENIOR PROJECT BUYER (CONTRACTOR).

Project based work covering the procurement of all components relating to chassis dynamics / statics / structure and powertrain. Position covered full commercial involvement from early concept stage, through supplier selection, to SOP. Good supplier selection and negotiation significantly helped the project achieve a close to target for vehicle build price.

1999-1999 GKN AUTOSTRUCTURES LIMITED, TELFORD.(8 Months) PROJECT BUYER (CONTRACTOR).

This started out as an 18-month contract, but was cut short due to the customer suspending the whole project, leading to the disbanding of the GKN team. The project involved the design, development and ultimate production of front / rear sub-frame assemblies and suspension units for a high performance sports car. As the Team Procurement advisor, it was my responsibility to take the designs to manufacturers, obtaining quotations, whilst keeping close liaison with the customer. Quality of my work was noticed by the customer (Lotus), who offered me a position contracting for them at their head office.

1996-1998 JCB TRANSMISSIONS, WREXHAM, CLWYD.(34 Months) PRODUCTION AND PROTOTYPE BUYER (CONTRACTOR).

Procurement of all production parts under the commodity headers of machined / fabricated / pressed parts / castings / hydraulic tubes / seals / brake & clutch plates / rubbers & plastics / fasteners. Initiating purchasing projects, e.g. cost down, rationalisation, supplier performance, benchmarking, cost tracking.

Working closely with Design on experimental gearboxes and axles, procuring all necessary parts for prototype build requirements.

Responsible for total company purchasing and stock control for this heavy vehicle manufacturer. Initiating various cost reduction programmes, including group working capital project (resulting in substantial
