As a graduate Information designer from the University of Pretoria, I am passionate about using design, branding and digital communication to enhance the image and communications of businesses so they truely connect with their audience. Qualifying with an honours degree I am well equiped to develop holistic campaigns with a varied range of media communications spanning digital and print media, information visualisation, illustration and photography. I have undertaken internships at three organisations which were crucial in broadening my valuable skill set and now handeling office administration by day and freelancing by night, I have gained real-world experience and have proven myself to be a reliable, quick learning, possitive, self motivated and conciences person.
With a practical approach and attention to detail, yet with creative flair I strive to create tangible experiences that speak to the needs and desires of my clients and their target market. I enjoy a variety of projects, objectives and outcomes, I am hardworking, addaptable and always up for a challenge and learning new skills. I enjoy collaborative projects and working within a team environment but still have the focus and efficiency to work independently.

Experience
BK publishing is a publishing house with a creative team consisting of publishers, journalists and graphic designers. BK publishing offers a range of services such as publishing, corporate and creative services; all with a focus on creating projects that are striking, successful and of a high quality.
During my internship and freelance work I have had the opportunity to develop my skills in conceptualization, illustration and laying out articles that are visually eye-catching and continually engaging for their in-house kids magazine - Supernova; while being able to gain real world experience working alongside a Creative Director.

Studio 5 is an established graphic design studio that has been in the industry for 16 years and prides itself on adding value for its clients by providing expert advice and creative integrity. Studio 5 places priority on creating designs that build business image, presence and tell each businesses story while cutting through the clutter to position each business distinctly and memorably .
During my internship I was able to further develop my skills in layout, design, the application of an existing design style to different elements while being able to learn how other designers interpret briefs, manage their projects, collaborate and refine their work after crits.

Embriosem is a Veterinary Practice in the East of Pretoria that specialises in Equine (horse) veterinary services especially Equine reproduction, medicine & diagnostic imaging.
During my employment at Embriosem I was able to broaden my skillset and learn many skills I would not have otherwise. I was able to do practical design related work such as designing their website and setting up their social media as well as completing various other smaller design projects like web banners, invites, business cards and an aid to help with stocktaking.
Meanwhile I also filled the role of office administrator where I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to learn more about dealing with clients and collegues. My duties included writing qoutes and invoices, doing stock management and orders, paperwork, manning the coffee machine and dealing with the day-to-day stress of a real life job while freelancing after hours to keep my design skills sharp.

To whom it may concern,
This serves to confirm that Sharlien Prinsloo completed three weeks of internship at BK Publishing, starting on 18th of June and finishing on the 6th of July 2012.
Sharlien joined the Supernova magazine production team and was tasked to conceptualise and create the artworks and complete the layout for a feature article on South African Dinosaurs as well as a few other articles and activity pages.
Sharlien is a highly talented and fully dependable young artist. She has a very keen eye for beautiful layout and colours. Her illustrations are of a very high standard and have had a substantial impact on the overall quality of both issues of the magazine in which they appear.
In her time here at BK Publishing and in subsequent visits, Sharlien has shown herself to be a kindhearted and caring person and she has been a valuable part of our team.

INTERNSHIP CONFIRMATION
To whom it may concern
This serves to confirm that Sharlien Prinsloo completed a two-week internship with Studio 5
in June 2013.
Sharlien successfully completed a number of small design projects which required accurate
interpretation of client briefs, development of concept, preparation of presentation material, and design and layout according to specifications and final output requirements.
She also assisted with some large, ongoing projects that involved applying an existing
design style of a document to specific elements that had to be added. She was able to produce work that was practical without compromising creativity.
She has good working knowledge of all software applications required, and produced work that reflected care, thought and attention to detail.
Sharlien displayed a good work ethic, was punctual, flexible and diligent. She was enthusiastic and eager to learn and got on well with all staff.
Sharlien is very capable and will be a valuable asset to any agency.

Sharlien Prinsloo completed an internship with Essence Design Studio between 14 – 25 January 2013. During this time she worked on numerous projects.
Sharlien was a pleasure to have in our studio. She is a quick learner and a driven person; she tackled tasks and briefs in a determined and con�dent manner. She displays good creative conceptual talent and will prove to be a solid and competent designer. We found her to be attentive and applied her computer skills well to each job she worked on.
She was exposed to our processes and systems we have in place and worked closely with the team. She was involved with actual work in the system and has been exposed to a typical creative and professional environment.
