D. Talk to your classmates and try to convince them of your opinion.Ask the students to talk to all their classmates and see how many they manage to convince oftheir own opinion. In order to make it more challenging, you can divide the class in two groups.Take one group out and tell them they will have about 10 minutes to think of ways they couldconvince the other group of their opinions. Tell the group that stayed in the room that no matterwhat they are told they have to find a reason for disagreeing. Tell this group to use their time tothink of reasons to disagree. Monitor both groups, especially for vocabulary and pronunciation.When the ten minutes are over, put the two groups together. Make sure the students change



pairs. Stop the discussion before it dies out. Ask the group that was trying to convince otherclassmates if they managed to. Ask why they think it was not possible. Then ask the second groupto share your secret with the rest of the class. It usually generates a lot of laughter.
