1. Open GNOMIO Website https://www.gnomio.com/

2. In the CREATE YOUR SITE section, put in your desired website name and your valid email then click CREATE.

3. A confirmation message will appear that tells you that your site is being created. Open your email and check, it will take a few minutes before you receive it. Also check your SPAM folder. You will receive your moodle site with the username and password.

4. Open the moodle site given by Gnomio and click the LOG IN button located in the upper right

5. Put in your username and password and then click LOG IN.

6. After you’ve log in, you will be redirected to your Moodle site.

7. Changing Password Policy



The default user password settings in Moodle is very strict, users may find it difficult to remember complex passwords. To change Password Policy settings go to ADMINISTRATION block, click Site administration > Security > Site policies

Scroll down to Password policy, uncheck Password policy and set the Password length to 4

Scroll down and click Save changes

8. Enabling Email Based Self Registration



Click Site administration

Click Plugins

Scroll down and click Manage authentication

Scroll down to Common settings and select Email-based self-registration

9. Adding a Course



In adding a course, you need to have Administrator, Course Creator or Manager rights. Go to Site administration > Courses > Manage courses and categories

Under the ‘Miscellaneous section’, click Create new course

Input the following details: Course full name: Basic Lessons on Enhancing Professional Image Course short name: PI101 Course category: Miscellaneous Visible: Show Disable Course end date check box

10. Adding Course Content



Scroll down and click Course format and change the following: Format: Topic Format Number of sections: 3 Leave the other entries as it is for this sample course. However, when you make a fully derivable course, you need to explore these settings and establish them according to your specifications. Click Save and display

Go to the course Basic Lessons on Enhancing Professional Image

Click the setting icon then click Turn editing on

Look for ‘Topic 1’ click the Edit link located at the further right. A drop-down will appear, choose Edit topic.

Check the Custon check box and type “Introduction”.

Like a word processing program, type “Professional Image” in the editor as the title of the summary.

Set the font size by highlighting first the word “Professional Image” then clicking the paragraph styles icon . A drop-down will appear, and then choose Heading (large) as the size of the font.

Minimize the window of the site then go to the moodle source files folder and open Intro.txt. Highlight all the paragraphs and copy them.

Go back to the site and paste the contents below the “Introduction”. Right click on the editor then select ‘Paste as plain text’.

Allocate a new space after the first paragraph and make sure the cursor is in between the first and second paragraphs.

Click the image icon to insert an image.

Click Upload a file then click Choose File.

Browse the image file in the folder moodle source files, select PI-image.jpg and click Open button.

Click Upload this file.

Uncheck Description not necessary check box then type “Professional Image” and click Save image button.

Click Save changes button

By performing the same steps in editing the first topic, edit the Topic 2 and change the section name to “Basic Lessons on Professional Image”. On Topic 3, change it to “Other Resources and Sample Quiz”.

11. Adding Video Resource (YouTube)



On the second topic, click the Edit and click Edit topic.

Click Show more buttons then click toggle HTML button

Open a new tab in your internet browser and go to a YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnV5pJVg8ww&t=10s, click SHARE

Click EMBED

Copy the Embed Video code

Go back to your Gnomio Moodle site and paste the embed code.

Click Save changes button

12. Uploading files (resource materials, PDF, DOC, etc.)



In the 3rd Topic (Other Resources and Sample Quiz) click Add an activity or resource.

Scroll down to RESOURCES click File then click Add button.

Type in Name “Presentation about Professional Image”

The file can be dragged directly into drop files window or click add files button

Click Choose File button

Select Basic Lessons on Professional Image.pdf file then click Open button.

Click Upload this file

Scroll down, click Appearance, select In pop-up.

13. Creating Sample Quiz



Click Save and return to course

Click Add an activity or resource

Select Quiz then click Add

Type “Online Quiz” in the name field.

Scroll down and click ‘Grade’. A drop-down will appear. Change the ‘attempts allowed’ to 1.

Click Save and display

Click Edit quiz

Click Add + a new question

Select Multiple choice then click Add button

Minimize the internet browser and go to moodle source files folder, open ‘Quiz.txt’

Copy the 1st question text

Go back to your Moodle site and paste he first question in the ‘Question Text’ field. In the ‘Question Name’ field, type “Question 1”. In the ‘Category’ field, choose “Default for PI101”.

On the ‘One or multiple answers’ field, choose “One answer only”. Uncheck the ‘Shuffle the choices’ checkbox. On the ‘Number the choices’ field, you can choose different numbering formats. In this sample course, choose the lowercase letters ( a, b, c…).

Open again the ‘Quiz.txt’ and then copy the choices and paste it to the ‘Choice 1’, ‘Choice 2’, ‘Choice 3’, ‘Choice 4’ fields.

If one of the choices is the correct answer, change the ‘Grade’ field to 100%.

When done, go to the bottom of the page, and click Save changes.

When a question has been created, it will be displayed and you can modify it by clicking

the Edit button . You can also preview the question by clicking the Preview question

button .

Repeat the steps for the other 2 questions

14. Add or Edit Questions in Quiz



Click Turn editing on

Click Online Quiz

Click Edit quiz

To edit questions click the settings icon ( ), to add question/s, click Add

15. Creating True or False Question with Embedded Video



Click Add > + a new question

Choose True/False, then click Add

Type “Question 4” in Question name text field then click show more buttons

Type in the text field “Is this video informative?”

Click toggle HTML button

Go back to Adding a True/False question tab in your browser

Right click in the text field and click Paste

Scroll down and choose True as the correct answer

16. Creating Fill in the Blank Question



Click Save changes


Choose Short answer then click Add

In Question name field type “Question 5” then type in Question text “What is the root word of Professional and Professionalism”

17. Adding Essay Questions



Scroll down to Answers, type in Answer 1 field “Profession” and set the grade to 100%, then in Answer 2 field type “Profess” and set the grade to 100%



Choose Essay then click Add

18. Adding Matching Type Questions



In Question name field type “Question 6” then type in Question text “What is Professionalism”

In the Response Options, set Allow attachments to 1

Scroll down then click Save changes


Select Matching then click Add

Open Quiz.txt in MOODLE Source Files

In Question name field type “Question 7” then type in Question text “Facts about the Solar System”

In Question 1 field type “The largest planet in the Solar System.” and type in correct answer “Jupiter”

In Question 2 field type “The planet humans first landed on.” and type in correct answer “The Moon”

In Question 3 field type “The furthest planet from Earth.” and type in correct answer “Neptune”

To add more items, click Blanks for 3 more questions

In Question 4 field type “The planet with an observable ring system.” and type in correct answer “Saturn”

19. Configuring Self Enrolment



Click Setting icon and select More

Click Users then click Enrolment methods

In the Self enrolment (Student) row 1st click Enable icon then click

Settings icon

In the Enrolment key type in the a generic key like: “cpsctech.org” that will be shared to the students when they enroll.

20. Creating Backup




Click Setting icon and select Backup

You can select different options in Backup settings

Scroll down and click Jump to final step

Once finished, click Continue

You will see your backup file in the Course backup area, make sure that you download a copy.
