Primary Systems comprised a rich solution with the implementation of a Wireless Emergency System. With the integration of this solution, each resident was provided with a wireless emergency push button in their kitchen and an emergency pull station in the bathroom of their apartments. This solution was installed in the restrooms, kitchen, and exercise room located in the commons building as well. This system was integrated so that when a resident would pull or push the emergency station, a notification alarm would sound, notifying staff members that someone was in need of immediate assistance. “We have the luxury of giving our residents the benefit of calling for help – anytime. This emergency call solution will have us prepared for any emergency situation, but at this point we are happy to report that it has not been utilized,” Conover happily stated. To further develop their safety solution, Primary Systems implemented a custom Security Camera (CCTV) system. The CCTV system was integrated with an intercom station and keypad lock installed at the front entrance that ensures only authorized residents and staff will be able to enter the facility.

Security cameras were placed in all areas of the common building including hallways and stairwells; however, cameras were not installed in individual apartments for privacy reasons. The execution of this custom integration allowed the installed security cameras to have the appearance of smoke detectors, which helped residents make an easier adjustment to the changes. While residents recognized that cameras existed and were recording, their subtle appearance did not make them feel like they were being monitored.

“We did not want to install a traditional camera system in the common building of the facility because we felt this would be too drastic. With the cameras having the appearance of smoke detectors, it allowed our residents to feel comfortable and gave us the added capability of utilizing the system to review video in the event of a problem or emergency,” Conover said.

The intercom system, including the keypad lock at the entrance of the facility, equipped residents and staff with a three digit code which in turn allowed the facility to be locked at all times and gave residents the added luxury of entering and exiting the facility as they pleased. With Primary Systems’ customized solution, St. Louis Life was equipped with the tools that allowed them to increase the safety of their residents, while completing its objective of not intruding in resident’s privacy.

“With this system our residents have the freedom of coming and going as they wish. Additionally, it gave us the assurance of knowing that only residents and staff members would have the ability to enter and exit the facility.”

“I feel with these systems we have taken the proper steps to support our residents and their families,” Conover continued. “Primary Systems did a great job for us. They really thought this project out and kept the feelings of our residents and their families in mind when they came up with a solution. We are so pleased that we found the right company to do the job.”
