The awards process is based on the following steps:

Nominees

A shortlist of nominees for each category was identified by an Efma Committee after the submission deadline (9th September).

Vote

Efma members and non-members from financial institutions voted for the 7 standard categories (excluding the Global Innovator category) on the Innovation Portal.

To do so, they established a podium ranking of Gold, Silver, and Bronze, among the 9 nominees per category. A vote from an Efma member was considered as two votes from a non-member.

Each vote cast by an institution for its own innovation received 50% of the points normally attributed.

For the Global Innovator category, the winners are selected by the Awards Jury after a thorough review of the seven nominees.

Judging

Voters considered the following criteria:

• Originality: The uniqueness of the idea in the marketplace and its potential as a game changer

• Impact: The innovation’s capacity to generate a superior, long-term competitive edge and a significant return on investmen

• Universality: The innovation’s adaptability across different markets and countries

For the special Global Innovator category, an Innovation Awards Committee composed of banking executives and innovation specialists from all over the world evaluated the nominees.

Innovation: FOCA (Financial Documents Corrective Analysis)Country: Turkey FOCA is an AI and value creation project that aims to support both decision/operational processes of corporate/commercial/SME sales and financial analysis departments by digitizing free format trial balance (T-balance) documents.

Innovation: Retail Financing Program Country: Philippines The Retailer Financing Program in partnership with TrueMoney Philippines, one of the largest Fintechs in Southeast Asia, is UnionBank’s implementation of a digital end-to-end solution to power micro working capital loans for Sari-Sari stores (neighborhood stores).

Innovation: Redesign of the end-to-end credit card customer journey via setting up, implementing and enabling full-scale, agile, and cross-functional change team Country: Russian Federation Through Ifa-bank innovation, a 2.5x growth in online credit card sales and a 50% reduction in customer acquisition cost, were realized in the first 9 months of its implementation.

Innovation: Smartphonisation – Alior Bank’s mobile way of working Country: Poland Alior Bank has equipped its employees’ safe smartphones with a preinstalled set of applications to move employees to the digital world and to enable digital transformation of the bank.
