Thank you for your enquiry for a custom Monopoly®, we would be delighted to help.
Edition name – You will find on the top left corner of the attached spreadsheet a highlighted area
for which we require a name or your edition. This will appear on the reverse of the Chance and
Community Chest cards and if you require it on the playing board.
“Streets” – there are 22 and on the attached spreadsheet you just need to fill out the yellow
highlighted areas (in BLOCK CAPITALS please) and we will prepare an on-screen digital image for you
to peruse.
“Stations” – There are 4 “station” spaces – these too can be changed but must remain under one
generic heading, i.e. “Restaurants”, “Golf Clubs” etc., as the property cards will refer to whatever the
subject is, as “if one owns 3 …………..”.
“Utilities” – There are 2 of these and the same premise applies as for the “Stations” – whatever
these are changed to, they must have the same generic heading as each other.
”Title Deeds” – these will automatically change where you have made changes on the board.
“Chance & Community Chest” cards – In addition to standard instruction cards, there are 6 Chance
and 11 Community Chest cards which can be customised – the main thing though to note is that the
value and the positive or negative slant should not be changed. So if it is a fine card, it should remain
so and the same if it is an award card – so for example “Food poisoning at a favourite restaurant,
fine £50”.
“Money” – we have the normal valued money or you can have our “Billionaire” edition notes which
take the cheapest property up from £/$/€60 to £/$/€6M and the most expensive from £/$/€400 to
£/$/€40M. If you decide this is what you would like, then the fines/awards on the Chance and
Community Chest cards will change accordingly.
Playing pieces – These are made as standard in pewter and are the traditional “Top Hat”, “Iron”,
“Dog” etc. If you require these to be customised then this can add quite a bit to the overall cost but
does look stunning and makes the item truly bespoke. For a one-off piece, we make custom in either
Sterling silver or silver-gilt as the origination costs are cheaper than in pewter (for a multiple board
order then pewter works out more cost effective). We have masses of models of all sorts of subjects,
but if one required, say for example “a 1912 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost” we may not have that exact
model, but just a vintage Rolls – if that won’t do, we can, of course, make it but this requires us to
sculpture and make a model from a series of photographs before a mould can be made – this is a
time-consuming and often costly process; but one we have undertaken on many occasions – you
only have to ask. NB The prices below do not include customised pieces as these need to be quoted
on an individual basis.
Logos/personalization/branding: The main Monopoly® logo must remain as usual in the centre of
the board; however we can emboss (Bespoke edition) or print (Off the Bench or OB editions)
anywhere in the centre of the playing board or on the plinths or trays. In addition, it is possible to
reproduce hand written messages as well – please ask for more details on this and additional costs.
Leather colours – Any of our Dauphin calf leather colours (see attached) can be used to create your
Monopoly® for the Bespoke and the OB editions, whilst we have black, red, navy and brown available
for the off the Bench edition. The printed boards can be made in any colourway, but please note that
colour matching is very difficult on leather, so we will endeavour to get as close as we can – with this
in mind it is recommended that the playing board should be made in a contrast colour to that of the
plinth or tray which will be made in tanned leather as the two will rarely match perfectly.
Making times – as with any handcrafted article, these are something that cannot be rushed. Normal
making time once the custom artwork is signed off is 10 to 12 weeks with an extra month if custom
playing pieces are required. After August 1st you may need to allow longer due to Christmas
pressures. Please call our workshops if you need your piece urgently and we will see what can be
done for you [telephone + 44 (0) 1799 599 100, option # 1].
EDITIONS: There are three distinctly different presentations, as follows:
Bespoke edition: This is a traditional hand inlaid piece, where individual contrasting coloured pieces
of leather are cut, then embossed in gold or silver and then had inlaid into the main playing board.
The playing board is set atop a beautifully leather-bound scalloped sided plinth, with leather “Bank”
boxes and matching dice cups.
Pros: There is nothing quite like a hand inlaid piece which shows the skill of the craftsmen who have
made it and the gold or silver embossing goes particularly well with either Sterling silver-gilt or silver
playing pieces.
Cons: Firstly origination costs – we have to have cast over 20 embossing dies, then the template
making for each embossing which with the special custom card printing amounts to a cost of
£1,560.
Secondly, due to the traditional method of embossing the “streets”, you are restricted to either gold
or silver foil, so logos/names etc will always have to be in a single colour.
Prices: For a customised fully hand inlaid board atop a scalloped sided plinth with pewter playing
pieces and including the above origination costs, the price is GBP £5,425.00 delivered.
Off the Bench edition: This is an “edited luxury” version of the above; and whilst it is still handmade
in our English country workshops, we are using a less expensive leather and the very latest in
technology to assist in bringing prices down. So the main saving is in the method we customise the
playing board which is made by a special printing technique we have developed. We then present
the board in a less complicated way, with a straight-side leather tray and then remove non-
essentials like the “Bank” boxes and dice cups but still provide as standard; pewter playing pieces.
Pros: Being printed, rather than hand inlaid, not only is there a labour saving from the hand work on
the playing board, but the origination costs are much lower as there are no die making costs etc. So
origination for this custom edition is only £600.
In addition, the printing technique allows us to reproduce full-colour logos and even photographs
(300 dpi scans please for the best result).
Cons: The only drawback aside from not looking quite as glamorous as the more luxurious Bespoke
edition, is that metallic gold or silver do not print well, and tend to come out as yellow or white
shades (as on traditional lithographic printing).
Prices: For a customised printed leather board atop a straight-sided tray with pewter playing pieces
and including the above origination costs, the price is GBP £1,660.00 delivered.
Alternative OTB presentations: Using the same printing technique we can produce a
Monopoly®Mat which is a flexible piece of leather, backed with luxurious suede, boxed with pewter
playing pieces, money and cards. This including the customization, this costs £1,155.00 delivered.
“OB” edition: This is our most popular edition by far and like the reference suggests, is an amalgam
of both the best of the Bespoke and Off the Bench editions combined. Basically, we utilise the
printing technique for the playing board and then set this within the opulence of the hand-bound
scalloped sided plinth, complete with all the components including the pewter playing pieces,
leather “Bank” boxes and matching leather dice cups.
Pros: The same origination savings are made as for the Off the Bench edition plus savings on the
inlaying. The result of combining the two editions makes for a more luxurious presentation, taking
very little away from the full hand inlaid Bespoke edition whilst offering all the flexibility aspects of
the customization that the printed version offers.
Cons: Very little really except for the problems of reproducing metallics as mentioned previously.
Prices: For a full customised printed board atop a scalloped side plinth complete with leather “Bank”
boxes and dice cups including origination GBP £3,200.00 delivered.
Attachments – aside from the spreadsheet, you will find our full Dauphin calf leather swatch along
with an image of our own custom Monopoly® which we created to chart our Company history. This
is rather fully loaded and we are not suggesting that you should follow suit, but it may give you some
ideas towards creating your own? This was produced as a printed leather version in our “OB”
format.
Advice – We realise that what may have seemed a simple enquiry, in the beginning, may now due to
the many options we have given you, seem a little daunting – so we are available by e-mail or
telephone should you have any queries?
If the above is not enough? Then you require our special commission's department which will be
able to take you through various options involving fine woods, precious metals and stones and
exotic skins; where no request is too unusual!
MONOPOLY customisation
are
sole licensed producers of luxury
editions of Monopoly in the
World. All items are designed at
our English workshops and
produced by hand to order.
There are two different editions
available, which allow
customisation and
personalisation, as follows:
BESPOKE – Each Monopoly is
hand inlaid by our craftsmen
with over 70 leather inlays, which
are pared down to match the
leather playing board and embossed in either gold or silver.
The board sits atop a beautiful scalloped sided leather plinth, which allows access to
the internal stowage within, by the playing board pivoting open.
Inside the plinth is a black felt lined and sectioned stowage compartment for the
leather-bound “Bank” and card boxes, “Houses”, Hotels” and playing tokens. The
“Bank” box has leather bound money separators as does the “Title Deeds”,
“Community Chest” & “Chance” cards.
A pair of uncrushable leather-bound dice cups, complete with trips to prevent unfair
play, are provided, together with 2 ball cornered precision dice.
Customisation available:
The Plinth:
This can be made in all of our Dauphin calf colours (an actual leather swatch
can be mailed to you or we can send by e-mail digital scans of these leathers).
Logos or initials can be embossed in gold or silver or even inlaid in a contrasting
leather for an extra charge (see example below in gold).

The Playing Board:
Again the main board colour (frame and centre) can be made in all of our
Dauphin colours. The centre panel can be changed if required for an additional
cost. Generally speaking usually we match the playing board to the plinth.
The Monopolylogo in the
centre of the board must
remain, as must the position of
the “Chance” and
“Community Chest” icons –
however, subject to approval
of the licensors, we can
sometimes obtain permission to
change the name of these to
match a theme.
The Streets:
These are hand inlaid and can be in any of our Dauphin calf colours. Popular
choices are Magnolia, which looks best with gold rather than silver embossing
as this shows up better. The upper portion of each “street” which is colour
coded, cannot be changed as these have to follow the “Title Deeds”.
The “streets” can be totally renamed or just in the categories, which break down as
follows, all with various cost implications:
22 “street” names can be changed
4 “station” names can be changed
 2 “utilities” can be changed
The 4 corner icons must remain, but the words can be changed.
To change the above within our traditional Bespoke range, we require to make
art-work and embossing dies, please find attached a letter which details these costs).
OFF THE BENCH – This range, which utilises a new technology we have been
perfecting allows us to permanently print any four colour image onto leather. This has
huge cost and customisation advantages over the traditional hand inlaid Bespoke
edition described above.
In this edition we are removing the labour cost of hand inlaying 70 pieces of leather
and individually embossing these. We have also pared down the accoutrements
inside the stowage tray to keep costs to a minimum so the playing pieces and
cards/money are now simply stowed within padded felt compartments, rather than
elaborate leather boxes etc. Also we have removed the leather dice cups and only
used standard dice rather than precision. The scalloped sided plinth has become a
straight-sided leather tray for a more contemporary piece. Continued on page 3/.

Page 3, Off the Bench continued
However, we have kept in mind that although this is meant to be a less extravagant
alternative to the Bespoke piece, this should still be both elegant and excellent as
any luxury item should be.
We might add though – should you wish any of the elements that are within the bespoke
edition to appear in our Off the Bench piece, you only have to ask and our design
team will advise costs and how these will be fitted within the game.
Customisation available:
The Tray:
Our standard Mountain Hide colours are red, black, midnight navy, turquoise, dark brown.
The board:
This is where our new technology really excels. Imagine four colour imaging
throughout the playing board – club logos, pictures, sporting themes in the
background or a personal message – almost anything can be done. Please
note though, that like traditional litho printing gold and silver metallics do not
reproduce well (this is where the Bespoke edition excels of course).
On the following page are some examples of customisations available.
Continued on page 4/.
Page 4, Off the Bench playing board customisation:
The Monopoly logo in the centre of
the board must remain, as must the
position of the “Chance” and
“Community” Chest icons – however,
subject to approval of the licensors,
we can sometimes obtain permission
to change the name of these to
match a theme.

The Streets:
The upper portion of each “street” which is colour coded, cannot be changed
as these have to follow the “Title Deeds”, but the rest can, from typeface fonts
to special logos and icons – basically if it can be drawn it can be reproduced.
The “streets” can be totally renamed or just in the categories, which break down as
follows, all with various cost implications:
22 “street” names can be changed
4 “station” names can be
changed
2 “utilities” can be
changed
The 4 corner icons must
remain, but the words
can be changed.

Bespoke/Off the Bench “OB” edition:
A very popular choice for customisation is the twinning of the “traditional” with that of
“modern technology” – this is where we make a printed leather board (Off the Bench
ed.) but set this within a traditional scalloped sided plinth (Bespoke ed.) – this saves on
heavy origination costs for the Bespoke edition but also allows full colour imagery for
the playing board but looses little of the impact of the Bespoke plinth and all the
accoutrements that are provided within – a photograph below shows how attractive
this can look (one word of caution though – as playing board is a printed leather
and the plinth is a tanned leather – two colours will never look the same, so it is
recommended that a contrast for the plinth to the board be made as shown below:
Presentation boxes “Off the Bench” board:
For those on tighter budgets but still requiring a luxury piece, we make the same
printed leather board but instead of the high labour and material cost to produce a
leather tray or plinth, we have designed a simple, smart black
presentation box for the board to sit in, with recesses below for all the playing pieces
and cards (see above custom edition made for Virgin Money).
-6-
Standard Houses & Hotels:
For the Off the Bench edition these are made of pewter, although these can be
supplied in Sterling silver and Sterling silver-gilt (we can of course use solid Gold
and even Platinum) if so desired, for an extra cost.
Custom Houses & Hotels:
However, if you wish the “Houses” to be changed to
reflect a theme (for instance we made these into
“stable blocks” for our “Polo” edition – see photo
opposite), these are generally made in Sterling silver
rather than pewter for a single set or a small run –
although the unit cost of the pewter is obviously less
than silver, the mould making cost is much higher, so
unless you are requiring a large quantity, it is more
cost effective to go with a precious metal). Or if you
just require something more opulent than the standard designs, we can
produce something like for example from our Billionaire edition where the
“houses” have become “Georgian Town Houses” and the “hotels”, “The Ritz
Hotel”. Again these can be made in Sterling silver or Sterling silver-gilt.
-7-
Standard Tokens:
Like the “Houses” and “Hotels” these are made in pewter and are the standard
Monopoly tokens, such as the “iron”, “top hat, “boot”, “car” etc (see below
left). However these can be made like the others in precious metals etc, for an
extra charge (see Sterling Silver-gilt below right).
Custom Tokens:
Some examples of custom made tokens used in our “Billionaire” edition are shown
below in Sterling Silver-gilt:
We have a large number of models to draw from, so it is best to send us your “wish
list” and we will check our archives of what is available? If you request a token which
has not been made before, then a sculpturing and mould making charge will apply –
this can be quite expensive depending on size and detail, so often our customers will
select something that it close to their “ideal” – e.g. we may have an “Aston Martin”
but perhaps not the exact model you require?

Title Deeds, Community Chest, Chance & “Money” for both Bespoke & Off the Bench
editions:
Title Deeds:
To reflect the playing board “street” name changes, the “Title Deeds”,
“Utilities” and “Station” cards are automatically changed.
Custom Community Chest & Chance cards:
Not essential but certainly a nice
touch, these cards can be changed
to reflect the theme or particular
“hazards” or rewards” that might be
appropriate to the owner of the
board. This sounds relatively easy,
but this is not always the case as
often it is easy to find good things
rather than penalties – much
thought with a set of cards in front of
one will need to be employed to
create these – often where one runs
out of possible ideas, the standard
cards are used to “fill in”.
Example of a multi-language Brussels edition
For example on the “Polo” themed set, we could not find enough rewards
associated with the game to fill all cards, so “tax windfalls” and “stock
market” success were added from the standard set, all of which have a
association with the type of person who would be playing Polo.
To assist you in this process, we will provide you with a spread sheet which can
be simply filled in with both the board and card changes.
“Money”:
The standard values need to be adhered to on the board as this is reflected in
the amount of money within the game. However the “bank notes” are non-
denominational and can be any currency shown on the board. As an
alternative, we can supply a “Billionaire’s” pack of money (see below) when
the “street” values have been changed accordingly. For example where the
UK bottom priced property (Old Kent Road) was £60 it is now £6,000,000 and
the most expensive street (e.g. Mayfair) this is now worth £40,000,000 rather
than just £400!
-9-
Rules:
In addition to the above changes, the rules have to be amended so that they
follow the new “streets” etc. This of course will be attended to as a matter of
course by our design team.. Your custom edition name will be added of course.
Lead times:
To change the above within our traditional Off the Bench range, we require to
make artwork only; there are no die costs to incur like within the Bespoke
edition. You will though need to allow time for both origination and a
production slot at our leather tanners for the printing process to be carried out
– a rough estimate is around 10 weeks for a custom edition from start to finish
(obviously if it is not an extensive board change and we happen to hit a
production run going through – times can be less – one should advise our
special commissions department if you have a particular date to meet and
we will try our best to accommodate your wishes. However, if one requires
custom making playing pieces which have to be sculptured and new moulds
made, this can add between 4 and 6 weeks to the above making time.
Design assistance:
Please note that on first viewing, something that seemed relatively
straightforward when you had the idea, has now probably after reading this,
become rather complex, confusing and even daunting! Fear not – we have
been doing this for years and are here to assist you through each stage –
please feel free to contact us (by e-mail preferably - this makes life much
easier with transferring art-work and making sure there are no mistakes on
communication by telephone). Once you have decided on the amount of
customisation you require and therefore established a finished cost with us, we
will e-mail you a final digital mock-up for you to check for any amendments
and when satisfied, sign-off.
We do at the start of the project ask for a non-returnable 50% deposit, to
cover artwork costs in the unlikely event that the job does not proceed
beyond this stage. This is purely to cover our designers’ time and is non
refundable as the game board design cannot be used for anyone else being
completely unique to yourself.
