CUSTOM DESIGN LUXURY VINYL DESIGN FILE SPECIFICATIONS DESIGN FILE SPECIFICATIONS How design files for vinyl should be provided: FILE FORMATS We prefer to work with files supplied as PDFs (1.4 or higher) - No overprint - Formats scaled down to 10% - Fonts converted to outline or fully embedded - Finished trim size within trim box - Overlap in the bleed box - Do not convert PMS colours to CMYK - Flatten transparencies - Supply each item to be printed as a separate PDF - Save the *.pdf using the profile: PDF/X-1a:2001 We can work with the following, although it’s not our preferred file type: - Adobe Photoshop CS4 or lower - Layers in Photoshop We can only accept artwork produced with other software on consultation with our DTP Studio (due to the specific requirements). Please try to create a PDF that can be further edited using Illustrator. RESOLUTION The resolution required for photos or artwork depends on the type of image and the intended application: indoor use, observed at close range: 100 DPI. Keep in mind that these values refer to the final size. If a file has been scaled down to 10%, for example, the values above would need to be multiplied by a factor of 10. USE OF COLOUR You can supply the artwork in either: - CMYK (Europe ISO Coated FOGRA39) - RGB-modus (Adobe RGB 1998) All our printers print using the CMYK colour model, meaning that PMS colours, too, are built up (using cyan, magenta, yellow and black) in such a way as to approach the PMS colour as closely as possible. Please keep in mind that some colours are more difficult to duplicate with CMYK. To avoid unexpected and/or undesired effects, we advise you not to use transparencies or overprints. BLACK Black is created by mixing CMYK. When delivering 100% black, the amount of ink for each colour will be determined by our advanced colour management system. Please keep in mind that if your artwork includes ‘built-up black’ we will maintain these CMYK values. COLOUR GRADIENTS Colour gradients in the file are built up from a maximum of 256 colours. When a gradient is stretched out over a larger area this results in ‘banding’ (stripes) in the printed product. This is not an error on the part of the printer: it’s simply the result of how gradients are built up. This banding may be more apparent with some colours than withothers. The best results can be achieved by supplying the gradients as vectors. COLOUR PROOFS Although we always do our best to come as close as possible to the proof provided, there is always the chance that the colour will vary somewhat due to the options available and/or the limitations within the colour spaces. DIMENSIONS Our standard for dimensions is width x height in centimetres. The size you specify in the order will be the size we produce. We will automatically scale files that differ from the size requested in the order, but which have the correct proportions or only a slight deviation, to the correct dimensions. If you specifically do not want this, this must be explicitly stated when placing the order. If the size difference is greater than 2%, the order will be put on hold and we will ask you how you would like us to proceed. Please keep in mind that our materials have a maximum print width. If your files exceed the maximum width of the selected material, our standard practice is to split up your files. If you specifically do not want this, this must be explicitly stated when placing the order.
