c. ICS Utrecht

• Quality of the research program under Van der Lippe’s supervision assessed as world leading and

the best Sociology program of the Netherlands. The program was evaluated in 2013 in an official,

comparative quality assessment of university research programs in sociology and the social sciences

in the Netherlands. Conducted in accordance with the Standard Evaluation Protocol for Public

Research Evaluations, the evaluation was carried out by an international Peer Review Committee.

In the nationwide assessment of seven programs in sociology, each program was assessed on the

dimensions “quality”, “productivity”, “relevance”, and “viability” using five-point scales

(1=unsatisfactory,…,5=excellent). The Utrecht program was the only one that received an

assessment of 5 – 5 – 4.5 – 5, and is considered the best program in the Netherlands. (Qanu, 2014,

Research Review Sociology, 2007-2012).
