CURRICULUM VITAE Ann V. Millard Ann Millard is a faculty member in the Department of Social and Behavioral Health, School of Rural Public Health, Health Science Center, Texas A&M University System. She works at the South Texas Center in McAllen, a research and distance education site near the Texas border with Mexico. Since coming to the center in 2002, she has won 10 grants and participated in 15 research and service delivery projects. Recently she submitted a book manuscript under contract on maternal and child health. She has taught 3 classes at the South Texas Center for the School of Rural Public Health, and 12 continuing education workshops at regional and national meetings, including the American Public Health Association. Millard received her Ph.D. in anthropology in 1980 from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology and the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University from 1980 to 2002. She taught anthropology and cultural aspects of medicine, directed the Office on Women in International Development, and edited Medical Anthropology Quarterly, an international journal published by the American Anthropological Association. She was also a Senior Research Scholar at the Julian Samora Research Institute, and her most recent book is Apple Pie and Enchiladas: Latino Newcomers in the Rural Midwest. The award- winning book is a multiauthored, multidisciplinary publication on new immigrants from Mexico in the rural Midwest in the 1990s, their reasons for arriving, and how they were received by townspeople (USDA Grant No. 97 36200 5207, 1998-2003, to Michigan State University). CURRICULUM VITAE

Ann V. Millard

Ann Millard is a faculty member in the Department of Social and Behavioral Health, School

of Rural Public Health, Health Science Center, Texas A&M University System. She works at the South Texas Center in McAllen, a research and distance education site near the Texas border with Mexico. Since coming to the center in 2002, she has won 10 grants and participated in 15 research and service delivery projects. Millard received her Ph.D. in anthropology in 1980 from the University of Texas at Austin.

She was a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology and the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University from 1980 to 2002. She taught anthropology and cultural aspects of medicine, directed the Office on Women in International Development, and edited Medical Anthropology Quarterly, an international journal published by the American Anthropological Association.
