GENERAL GROUP ACTIVITIES

o Welcome Snack Time: Offer the children a welcome snack and drink to get them settled in for the day's activities. Whilst this is ongoing, a teacher or volunteer can take some of the kids around the class, pointing out any “Lesson –Based Decorations / Posters” to stir them and arouse their interest on the lesson for the day. This also helps to distract “criers” clinging to parents at check-in.

o Praise & Worship Time: Lead the children in praise worship session, engaging them to participate actively. Choose songs from our Ministry about Jesus and His great love for us; His beloved Children. Get the children to sing and act out the words in the songs using hand signs and gestures that relates with the song. This really gets the kids into it!

AGE LEVEL CLASS ACTIVITIES

WELCOME & WORSHIP TIME

oEnsure you are all ready and the class is set up ahead of the children's arrival. Be at the door to welcome the children. Greet each child by name. To create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, you can play an upbeat tempo praise song in the backgroundIf you have a meter/greeter team that would be nice too and they can take the children around showing them the lesson-related decorations to arouse their interest for what's ahead in the service.

Use LoveWorld children's Ministry Attendance Charts for your check in and registration of the kids as they come in. If you have a lesson related sticker, this would be a good time to hand them out for that extra special welcome and to give the children a peek of what is to come in the bible lesson for the day.

Check-In & Welcome

oAssembly time gives opportunity for interaction across all age groupings as one big group. Children should be ushered to the assembly area straight after completing the check- in process. The Assembly Leader should be of a boisterous, cheerful personality that can engage every child and set the tone to help them get excited and ready for the day's activities as they break away to their individual classes. New Kids Welcome: Don't forget to welcome new children (first timers) specially with our Christ Embassy welcome song and encourage the regular kids to go over and say hello to make them feel even more welcome.

Encourage feedback from the children. Use “The Lesson Discussion Guide” provided with this curriculum. Ask the kids questions in line with the bible lesson you have just taught and give opportunity for them to ask you questions if they have any as well. This would be a good time to use your reward stickers for pupils who answered right and made any attempt to answer a question.

o Confession Say out loud the confession for the day and have the children repeat the words of confession after you several times. Let them know that when we speak God's word like this in bold confessions, speaking the same things God has said in His word in agreement with him… We walk in the reality of what the scriptures declare as the Bible says “you shall have what you say” Mark 11:23

o Scripture MemorizationOne of the ways children learn is by repetition. Refer to the scripture memorization tip provided to help the children learn and memorize the scripture verse for the day.

Pray By The Rules

Page 8: Curriculum Preteensloveworldcloud.com/childrensministry/system/files...o Rhapsody of Realities For Early Readers Get the children to be seated comfortably and read the Devotional Story

Teacher Says;Today's topic is very inspiring. It reminds me of ‘the rules of the game’. Today we would learn a very instructive lesson titled; ‘Learn to pray by the rules’. (Teacher asks; Have you ever watched or participated in a competitive sporting event? (Allow time for response(s). if you have; you will notice that in the world of sport, there are different form of games, and different rules apply to them all. (Teacher asks; who can tell us some of the sporting games you know and the rules for playing them (Allow time for response(s), and remember to acknowledge every participant for his or her input). You see, you cannot for instance play soccer with the rules of basket ball, neither can you play hand ball as though you are playing volleyball. Although some ball games may have similarities in the way they are played, there are certain rules peculiar to each ball game that distinguishes it from others. It's the same way with prayers. There are different kinds of prayers, and they all have different rules, laws and principles that must be applied for them to be effective.

In order to understand the subject of prayer and how to pray effectively, you must recognize that there are different circumstances and situations in life and the same prayer doesn't apply to all of them. If you read our opening Bible passage you would have noticed a list of different kind of prayers, It says “I exhort therefore, that first of all, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men” (1 Timothy 2:1) . From this scripture we could ascertain that there's the; “prayer of agreement”, “prayer of supplications”, “prayer of intercessions”, and “giving of thanks”. All these are different kinds of prayers and different rules apply to them all. And If you study your Bible further, you will find out that apart from these, there are still some other types of prayers with their own guiding principles.

No wonder the Bible admonishes us to “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all (manner of) prayer and entreaty”. (Ephesians 6:18 AMP). Hallelujah! Now I believe you notice the phrase “all manners of prayers”, that is “all kind of prayers” (as stated in the (NIV), what does this imply? (Teachers; Allow time for response(s). The answer is simple, it means that there are different kinds/ manners of prayers that we could pray in different situations. Glory to God!

Sometimes, people apply the rules of one prayer to another or pray the wrong prayer in certain situations and wonder why they don't have results. No! it wont work that way; for your prayers to be effective, you have to pray by the rules!

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Timothy 2:1-3

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior.

Teacher: As an interest builder to the lesson; Ask; Who would like to tell us what it means to 'Pray By The Rules'Ask the children by show of hand to volunteer to share their thoughts on the meaning of the word 'Prayer', giving an example of application based on their explanation (Acknowledge every participant for his or her input). Round off this brief discussion by giving the definitions for the words or terminology reviewed.

Let's Talk About It:

There are different kinds of prayers, and they all have different rules, laws and principles that

must be applied for them to be effective. You cannot for instance play soccer with the rules of

basket ball, neither can you play hand ball as though you are playing volleyball. It's the same

way with prayers, there're certain rules peculiar to each form of prayer that distinguishes it

from others. In this lesson, our children will learn about different forms of prayers, and how

to pray by the rules. Hallelujah!

Help your child develop the habit of reading the Bible and enjoy doing it too!

Rhapsody of Realities For Early Readers is an excellent resource you can use. Ensure you get a copy of the April Edition for your child.

Go through the memory verse with your child every day until he or she can repeat the verse without skipping any word.

Make out time in the week to help your child find relatable ways to apply the Bible lesson for the week in different situations.

Your child needs you to continually pray for him or her. Pray with your child and thank God that he or she is growing in grace and in the knowledge of our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, increasing in wisdom and in stature every day.
