GlobalCourseware Spanish I A addresses the following:
• vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and
writing in Spanish

Spanish I A Grade Levels 9-12
The GlobalCourseware Spanish I A course is a comprehensive, completely integrated course for grades 9-12. Spanish I A is
designed to help students comprehend and communicate the Spanish language as well as gain a better awareness of
Spanish-speaking cultures.
• Spanish I A is presented as a semester-long high school course.
• All lessons contain a study guide, practice activities, and a mastery
test.
• The Spanish I A course is divided into weekly units with four lessons
in each unit. Lessons 1-3 of all units consist of a daily lesson and a
practice and mastery test for student learning. Lesson 4 of each unit
contains a review of material learned in that unit, an interactive
game, and the unit test.
• Interactive games (Juegos) include crossword puzzles, word
searches, and more. Juegos are found in Lesson 4 of each unit.
• Spanish lessons are enriched with activities that provide interactive media for students.
• Narration of vocabulary terms, grammatical structures, and test questions by native Spanish speakers provides students
with pronunciation and syntactic mastery.
• The Spanish I A course provides student with access to a Spanish to English and English to Spanish dictionary as well as
a complete user guide that instructs students in the usage of interactive media contained in the lessons.

Spanish I A Grade Levels 9-12
• The content and concepts in this course are, in part, based on the National Standards in Foreign Language Education developed in cooperation with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
• Spanish I A focuses on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing of the Spanish language. Lessons
examine a variety of topics and teach basic conversational skills applicable in the classroom and daily use.
• Students are encouraged to grow beyond drill and practice into meaningful interaction with the Spanish language.
Students will review and practice the speaking and spelling of Spanish words and develop a basic understanding of
Spanish-speaking cultures.
• Spanish I A requires students to have Adobe Acrobat® Reader®
available on their workstations to complete two of the word
search puzzles (Juegos) linked to the lessons. Available at:
www.adobe.com, select the Get Adobe Reader button.
• Due to the interactive nature of this course, there are a few
specific software requirements:
o The following web browsers are recommended:
ƒ Microsoft Internet Explorer® versions 6.0 or higher
ƒ Safari® versions 2.0 or higher
o Interactive activities require a web browser equipped with
