Trinidad and Tobago has completed Table 1 and Table 2 and partially completed Table 3, Table 4 and Table 10.
• Table 1- Inbound Tourism by products and classes of visitors, year 2010
• Table 2- Domestic Tourism expenditure by products, classes of visitors and types of trips, year 2010.
• Table 3 – Outbound Tourism expenditure by products and classes of visitors
• Table 4 – Internal Tourism consumption by products
• Table 10 – Non-monetary indicators

Inbound tourism expenditure by products and classes of visitors.
TABLE 1
4
TABLE 1 - Inbound tourismMethodology
In 2010 380,396 visitors came to our shores.
In 2010 visitor expenditure was significantly less than in other years, since the Visitor Expenditure Survey (VES) was conducted 3 times by the CSO and not 6 times as usual.
5
TABLE 1 –Inbound TourismMethodology
Expenditure for 2010 was determined as:
2010 average expenditure x 2010 total visitors
i.e TT6257 x 380,396.
= Total visitor expenditure of
TT$ 2,482,844,692
6
TABLE 1 –Inbound TourismMethodology
Accommodation and meals were recorded as a composite value. The 2010 VES was used to devise ratios to disaggregate the value.
A ratio of 81% was used for accommodation and 19% was used for food and beverage serving services based on the contribution of food and accommodation to hotel GDP.

TABLE 2: Domestic TourismMethodology In 2011, Trinidad and Tobago held its first
domestic tourism survey. Survey sample of 1200 households in both Trinidad and Tobago.
The survey sought to gather expenditure incurred in 2010 onDomestic Trips – (Overnight Visitors, Same day
Visitors)Outbound Trips -(Overnight visitors, Same day
visitors)
10
TABLE 2: Domestic TourismMethodology
Results from the survey was then weighted and multiplied by the number of households in Trinidad and Tobago to provide estimated expenditures for the entire population.
11
TABLE 2: Domestic TourismConceptsUsual environment: In determining the usual environment for domestic tourism in Trinidad and Tobago the following criteria was used:
Municipal Corporations and or Communities Frequency of Travel

Table 2COMPILATION CHALLENGES
2010 DOMESTIC SURVEY
15
COMPILATION CHALLENGES There were various issues with regards
to the design of the survey instrument which led to challenges when compiling the data under TSA RMF 2008.
Specifically in the compilation of Domestic Trips and the Outbound Trips sections of Table 2.
16
DOMESTIC TRIPS-Overnight Visitors
Some tourism products and services were misclassified and others were omitted in the 2010 survey instrument, under the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC), Rev. 4. They were
1. Cultural and the Sports and Recreational services.
2. Travel Agencies and other reservation services.
17
DOMESTIC TRIPS -Overnight Visitors 1. Misclassification of cultural and sports and recreational services
Components of the Cultural and Sports and Recreational Services were singled out as a Main Purpose of Visit. Also, certain classes of these activities were omitted.
Components in Main purpose of visit includeVisiting Friends and Relatives Leisure/Relaxation
Business Concert/Plays/Shows
Honeymoon Conference/Convention/Retreat
Attending a Family Occasion A sporting event
Religious/ Cultural Function Other “Specify”
18
DOMESTIC TRIPS-Overnight Visitors 2. Omission of Travel Agencies and other reservation services
Travel agencies and reservation services were also not included in the survey instrument due to human error.
19
DOMESTIC TRIPSSame Day Visitors
Questions regarding same day visitors (day trips) did not follow the requirement for Table 2 under TSA-RMF 2008.
1. Tourism Characteristic products were listed as a main purpose of visit and listed items were not grouped or classified according to ISIC, Rev 4 .
2. Some items listed as a Main Purpose of Visit in Day Trips were not listed as a Purpose of Visit for Overnight Trips making the horizontal summation of Table 2 more difficult.
20
DOMESTIC TRIPS -Same day visitors 1. Misclassification of tourism characteristic products and activities
Sightseeing Beach/River Lime
Concerts/Plays/Shows Visiting/Friends/Relatives
Hiking Shopping
Conference/Convention/Retreat Fine Dining
A sporting event Religious/Cultural Events
Sailing/ Watersports Other: “Specify” ___
Tourism characteristic products were listed as a Main POV
21
DOMESTIC TRIPS -Same day visitors 2. Difficult to sum with overnight trips due to different main purposes of visit.
OVERNIGHT TRIPS DAY TRIPS
Visiting Friends and Relatives Visiting Friends and Relatives
Concert/Plays/Shows Concerts/Plays/Shows
Conference/Convention/Retreat Conference/Convention/Retreat
Religious/ Cultural Function Religious/Cultural Events
A sporting event A sporting event
Other “Specify” Other: “Specify” ___

DOMESTIC TRIPSOutbound Trips
Only total figures for pre, and post trip expenditures were recorded for Domestic Outbound Trips
(Domestic) Outbound (Table 2)• Pre Trip = TTD 506,937,819.47• Post Trip= TTD 122,037,364.94 • Total Domestic Outbound = TTD
628,975,184.41
23
TABLE 2: Domestic TourismResults
24
Outbound Tourism expenditure by products and classes of visitors
TABLE 3
25
OUTBOUND TRIPS
Only an overall/total figure was recorded for Table 3 as survey respondents were only required to state the total spent while on their trip abroad. This figure is
• Expenditure on Trip = TTD 1,233,792,787.32
26
INTERNAL TOURISM CONSUMPTION BY PRODUCTS
TABLE 4
27
COMPILATION CHALLENGES Total figures for pre and post trip
expenditures were reflected for domestic outbound trips. Therefore only sections 2.9 and 4.1 of Table 4 have a total expenditure figure.

NON MONETARTY INDICATORS
TABLE 10
30
TABLE 10: Non Monetary IndicatorsResults
The unavailability of data for land based mode of transport prevented the completion of Table 10 part b.
The classification by the average number of jobs based on the number of establishments is different to the grouping that CSO uses. As such completed table 10 d used a different grouping
