Gogo Grandmother’s
Gogo Grandmothers is a non-profit organization that
provides a structured way for grandmother groups to
put their love and concern in action. They share
Christ's love and compassion with the grandmothers
and grandfathers who are caring for the grandchildren
of Africa orphaned by AIDS. They also charter local
groups and support them with tools, training,
promotional materials, ideas and news. They assure
reliable distribution of their resources in Africa by
providing essential structure and support.
"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means
caring for the orphans and widows in their distress ...."
James 1:27 (NLT)
Granada has partnered with Gogo Grandmothers to come alongside the
gogos of Kondanani Village in Malawi, Africa. In doing so, we have
helped them through thick and thin! This year is particularly thin due to
the cyclone last January. The heavy rains all but destroyed the crops,
which resulted in a harvest of only 25% of what it usually is. This means
that our gogos and the grandchildren may not have enough food if it
weren’t for the “Joseph Project”. The really difficult time began this last
fall and will go through this March.
The S.A.F.E (Sub-Saharan African Family Enrichment) team realized this
and began the “Joseph Project”. Just like Joseph in the Old Testament
listened to God by a dream that there would be famine and stored up
grain, so S.A.F.E. is doing likewise. But, they need our help too. As written
on the website, www.gogograndmothers.com:
“So far, 1,000 --50kg bags are stored in a warehouse in Zomba and 206
in a friends garage. The former were just delivered and need to be
fumigated against weevils; the prior are already dusted… a priority is to
do a household assessment of our villages to find the most vulnerable.”
There are so many options for you to help! You can come by the table
in the courtyard and make a donation, buy Valentine Gogo-Grams,
support a gogo every month, join Granada’s Gogo Grandmother group
and help make a difference!
Welcome- If you are a guest today we thank you for coming. We would
appreciate it if you would complete a yellow card from the pew rack. As our
guest, please do not feel obligated to put something in the offering.
EASTER BAPTISMS! If you are
interested in getting baptized here at
Granada on Easter Sunday (March 27),
