ABS is a low cost thermoplastic material with outstanding impact resistance,

machinability, and thermoforming characteristics. It is an excellent choice

for retail store fixtures and point-of-purchase displays where impact resistance

is required.

Royalite® R59 is a fire-rated ABS/PVC alloy sheet material, that is often

used for transportation, architectural, and electronics applications that require

UL certifications.

Royalite® R84/21 is an ABS sheet material with a proprietary weatherable cap

layer for improved performance in outdoor environments. The material is an

excellent choice for marine, automotive, and recreational vehicle components

where good weatherability is required.

Acrylic is a transparent thermoplastic with outstanding strength, stiffness, and

optical clarity. Acrylic sheet is easy to fabricate, bonds well with adhesives and

solvents, and is easy to thermoform.

Acrylic is widely used for architectural glazing, indoor and outdoor signs, retail

store fixtures, and point-of-purchase displays.

When it comes to specialty displays in thicknesses from 1"-4" (standard sizes),

acrylic block offers high transparency and brilliance, break resistance,

SIGN GRADE ACRYLIC SHEET

Sign grade acrylic sheet is designed specifically for the sign market. It is rigid,

tough, easily fabricated and machined, and resists chipping and melting. It is

perfect for channel lettering, flat and pan faced signs, and vacuum formed letter

applications. Available in clear, translucent or opaque, sign grade acrylic sheet

consistently performs in both indoor and outdoor sign applications. It is available in

many colors or colorless in either sheet or reels.

ABRASION RESISTANT

Abrasion resistant acrylic sheet is ideal for indoor applications where frequent

handling, heavy traffic, and regular cleaning are commonplace. The abrasion

resistant coating helps to significantly extend service life. These sheet products

are available with the coating on one or two sides.

ACRYLIC SHEET FOR LED LIGHTING

This acrylic sheet is specially formulated for LED sign faces. It has a frosted

appearance and unique optical properties that evenly diffuse light and hide LED

hot spots without the use of a diffuser film. With superior impact and weather

resistance it is ideal for both interior and outdoor applications. The lightweight

product incorporates a textured surface that works to hide fingerprints and

scratches and helps enhance the service life of signs in high traffic areas.

ACRYLIC SHEET FOR EDGE-LIT APPLICATIONS

This acrylic sheet is specifically made for edge-lit applications. Light focused on

the edge of the sheet is transmitted and evenly diffused to both faces of the

sheet, resulting in a bright and uniform illumination. This allows the light box

manufacturer to conceal the fluorescent tubes in the profile trim, rather than

place them behind the sheet. It eliminates the need for bulky display boxes used

for illuminated designs and replaces them with slimmer designs.

BLACK/WHITE ACRYLIC SHEET

Black/White ACRYLITE® GP acrylic sheet appears dark by day and, with a little,

backlighting, glows white at night. It’s manufactured from a special pigment for-

mulation that yields 10-19% light transmittance when backlit, yet appears dark

and opaque without backlighting. These features make Black/White ACRYLITE®

GP sheet a great solution for channel letters and faces.

METALLIC ACRYLIC SHEET

The Sterling Collection of ACRYLITE® acrylic sheet offers smooth, decorative,

silvery patterns with the look of metal. The collection offers a lightweight,

fabrication-friendly option to metal P-O-P displays with the durability and impact

resistance of acrylic. It is more economical to fabricate and ship than metal and

is a safer option for displays in high traffic areas. Sterling materials are available

in multiple patterns, including: confetti, shards, diamond plate, radial, linen, and

sand drift.

OPALESCENT ACRYLIC SHEET

Opalescent acrylic sheet creates dazzling color changes and dramatic eye-catching

movement, all without specialty lighting. Opalescent sheet shimmers with iridescent

colors that change as the viewer moves. Using ambient light to create its own

lighting effects, opalescent sheet energizes point-of-purchase displays, signs, and

Expanded PVC is a lightweight, moderately expanded, closed cell sheet material

that is rigid, durable, and easily fabricated. Expanded PVC is an excellent

substrate for signage and point-of-purchase displays. It accepts inks, paints,

and pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) coated materials and has a wide range

of standard colors and thicknesses. Print-optimized grades of expanded PVC

provide even better ink adhesion allowing them to be run faster on digital

flatbed printers saving both time and money. Expanded PVC is readily available

and cost effective.

WHAT IS CORONA TREATMENT?

Corona treating increases the surface energy of most plastic materials. The result after coronatreatment is a surface that is unchanged to the naked eye, but is much more receptive to inks,coatings, and adhesives.

Corona treatment will degrade over time. It is recommended that when a material is stored that itremain stretch wrapped until ready for use.

FORMING GUIDELINES

• Oven temperatures should be set differently than the settings used for ABS or FR-ABS

• Typical heater settings (percentage timers) are 30-50% top heaters and 50-70% bottom heaters

• The most frequent problem is trying to heat the sheet too quickly, especially the primary surface

• Cycle times will vary depending on the oven conditions and grade of KYDEX® sheet being formed

• When forming KYDEX® thermoplastic sheet, it is better to rely on the sheet appearance during heating than on fixed cycle times

• Forming temperatures - Guidelines: (sheet should not exceed 204ºC (400ºF)165-177ºC (330-350ºF) for < 1.50mm (0.060").182-196ºC (360-385ºF) for 1.50mm to 3.20mm (0.060" to 0.125")196-204ºC (385-400ºF) for >3.20mm (0.125")

• Ideally the core sheet temperature should be within 10ºF of the surface temperature

• Drying is not generally required except in high humidity conditions

• If the material needs to be dried, it should be dried at 68ºC (155ºF) or about 15º below the products HDT for 16 hours for 3.20mm (0.125") thickness
