Culture Night Offaly 2015Friday 18 September 2015Culture Night is a night of entertainment, discovery and adventure across towns,cities and counties in Ireland. In Offaly there are over 30 FREE events rightacross the county and much to explore, whether you can attend one event orcreate your own Culture Night trail, we look forward to seeing you out and about on CULTURE NIGHT. ÁRAS AN CHONTAE, TULLAMORESTORM IN A TEACUPOLIVE CUSKELLY AND PAULA FINLAYTV3’s Brian Daly launches a joint exhibition ofnew works by Offaly artists with work depictingwide open landscapes to the fine bone china ofthe dresser. Opening 6:30pm

CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION TULLAMOREPIPE DREAMS & MUSIC Prof. Gerard Gillen introduces the amazingsounds of the Church of Assumption’s famousDanish Frobenius Organ along with theTullamore Classical Music School. There will be an opportunity for some members of theaudience to try out the organ under supervision.6pm

CHARLEVILLE CASTLERAHAN COMMUNITYPRESENTS INTERNATIONALMUSIC & DANCE Jacek Lomejko and friends will entertain with the vibrant sounds of Polish folk musicwith a touch of classical and jazz alongsideEgyptian, Oriental & Indian dance from the Red Embers. REBELS & RICH TEA BY CHRISTIANE O’MAHONYA rehearsed reading of a new play writtenby Christiane O’Mahony and directed bySarah Baxter. Based on witness accounts,Rebels and Rich tea is a fast pacedadventure that tells the story of two sisterswho join the rebel forces in the GPO onEaster Monday embarking on an adventurethat changes their lives forever. This play isa work in progress and audience feedbackis welcome.6.30pm

The lights dim and the Zoetropebegins to revolve, the images blur, a strobelight starts and the images jump to lifeforming incredible, smooth animations. Seethe figures come to life in real time, literally infront of your eyes, without the intervention ofscreen or film. 6-11pm | This installation featuresstrobe lighting.
