In Indonesian context, implementing democracy implies several important points. Plurality is recognized, being proven by the national creed “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”, which indicates that Indonesian plurality be acknowledged.

Strategic Plans for Multiculturalism (1)
1. Preserving Betawi’s culture in the context of Jakarta as Capital City of Indonesia which is multicultural.
2. Facilitating acculturation process between local/Indonesian cultures and foreign cultures.
3. Developing world-class cultural center in “Taman Ismail Marzuki.”
4. Revitalizing heritage area/buildings of Old Town (Kota Tua) as economic creative area;
5. Developing Betawi cultural area (Kampung Budaya Betawi);
6. Developing “Taman Mini Indonesia Indah” (Miniature of Indonesia Park) as part of Jakarta’s cultural development effort.
7. Minimizing potential conflicts among community groups;
8. Increasing awareness of religious and ethnic groups for not using violence;
9. Cooperating with police in developing neigborhood safety and security sistems;
10.Increasing role of religious communication forum (Forum Komunikasi Kerukunan antar Umat Beragama -FKKUB);
11.Increasing awareness of community in religious tolerance.
